Not Just A Sneaker

The new line, which features both low-top and high-top versions, is a tribute to the Long Beach rapper’s 1993 album that cemented his place in hip-hop history, according to the official Skechers website.

The high-top sneakers are priced at $95, while the low-tops are $90. These are on the higher price point for the company. In 2020, the average selling price of a pair of Skechers was $21.88, according to Statista.

“Doggystyle,” which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, is a landmark album in hip-hop, certifying four times platinum and being recognized by Rolling Stone as one of the Essential Recordings of the ’90s and by The Source as one of the 100 Best Rap Albums, KTLA reported.

This is not the first time the rapper has teamed up with the affordable footwear company.

On Aug. 1, 2023, the Skechers x Snoop Dogg collection features various sneaker styles, including the Skechers Slip-ins: Snoop One – Boss Life Canvas sneakers, priced at $90; the Stamina – Snoop ’91 sneakers, starting at $100; and the OG and Double G leather slip-in shoes, priced at $125.

As part of the exclusive Skechers x Snoop Dogg collaboration, a lightweight backpack featuring a drawing of Snoop Dogg is available. This limited edition Skechers bag can be found for sale on various platforms, including OfferUp, where currently sits priced at $20.

The specifics of the multiyear collaboration between Skechers and Snoop Dogg remain under wraps, but it is helping Skechers draw consumers away from competitors like Adidas and Nike, who generally operate at higher price points, Billboard reported.
