For her fourth walk down the aisle, singer-actress Jennifer Lopez decided to go low-key and low-cost for the July 17 surprise wedding to actor Ben Affleck.
This was a successful second attempt by the pair, who called off their high-profile planned wedding day in 2003. The expansive and expensive wedding got called off at the last minute. It was reported that that wedding price was in the $1.78 million range, according to The Scottish Sun. It was to take place in front of 400 guests at the luxury Four Seasons Biltmore Hotel, in Santa Barbara, California. Lopez, who was rumored to be dressed by Vera Wang in a $19,000 gown, had gotten engaged with a rare pink 6-carat diamond ring.
On Sunday, they said their “I dos” as a Las Vegas drive-through chapel called the A Little White Wedding Chapel.
The two Hollywood powerhouses reunited in April 2021. But this wedding was much more understated, despite their increased net worths. With a string of business ventures such as a skin care and a fashion line in addition to her music and acting career, Lopez is worth a reported $400 million with a salary of $40 million per year, according to CelebrityNetWorth.com.
Affleck, 49, has a reported net worth of $150 million, according to CelebrityNetWorth.com. This includes pulling top dollar for his starring acting gigs and his Pearl Street Films film and television production company he co-founded in 2012 with friend and fellow actor Matt Damon.
Affleck was married to actress Jennifer Garner from 2005 to 2018.
Lopez confirmed that the twice-engage couple tied the knot on social media.
“Last night, we flew to Vegas, stood in line for a license with four other couples, all making the same journey to the wedding capital of the world,” Lopez wrote, USA Today reported.
The Scottish Sun reported that the paperwork cost the two about $92. Lopez wore an old white dress from one of her movies. She did don a second gown, an off-the-shoulder lace dress by Zuhair Murad, which can cost about $4,800.
Affleck did splurge on Lopez’s engagement ring, which Hello magazine reported it to be worth $5 million. Us Weekly reported it could be worth up to $10 million.
Diamantaire Ilan Portugali of Beverly Hills Diamonds told Hello that the ring features a rare 8.5-carat natural green cushion modified brilliant cut diamond.
“Since natural green diamonds are very rare, I would estimate this ring costs at least $5 million,” Jenny Luker, president of Platinum Guild International USA, told Hello the estimated price is supposedly somewhere over $5 million.
Her plain platinum wedding band, however, is reportedly worth $1,000. Luker of Platinum Guild International USA told Hello: “Jennifer’s wedding ring is a classic and timeless style! It looks like a wide, domed platinum band. Jennifer’s ring is a beautiful symbol of her love and commitment to Ben because platinum is precious, rare and lasts a lifetime. I would estimate this ring costs around $1,000.”
Lopez, 52, has previously been married to singer Marc Anthony, backup dancer Chris Judd, and Cuban waiter Ojani Noa in 1997.
