R&B singer-songwriter and producer Ashanti is currently making a lot of moves.
In March, she partnered with EQ Exchange, a Web3 company using blockchain technology to promote musicians and engage fans. EQ Exchange is a woman-owned tech company in Silicon Valley, and Ashanti is the first Black woman artist to become a co-founder of a Web3 company. Ashanti followed up by being honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, celebrating the 20th anniversary of her debut album, and, finally, publishing a children’s book, “My Name Is A Story,” in July.
And now, Ashanti has placed her long-time Long Island home on the market for $2.2 million, Realtor.com reports.
The singer purchased the residence in 2003 for $1.95 million.
The 2.2-acre estate is located in Old Westbury, Long Island, one of the wealthiest zip codes in New York. The residence was built in 1999 and is close to the Long Island Expressway, providing easy access to New York City.
But the mansion’s proximity to New York City does not make it any less secluded. Located on the end of a cul-de-sac, the home features a long driveway cutting across a lawn before circling to the front of the red-brick neo-traditional residence. Double-height columns provide a formidable feeling to the front porch. The foyer includes a flying staircase and a crystal chandelier. The formal living room features a carved pink-stone fireplace and the dining room includes wood flooring. The family room’s mantelpiece — an Indonesian-style carved wood structure — is the space’s focal point.
Featuring six bedrooms and five and a half bathrooms, the largest ensuite includes a dressing room and private bath decked out with rust-colored marble. The other bathrooms include skylights in vaulted ceilings and jetted bathtubs.
The kitchen includes updated stainless steel appliances, wooden cabinets, a curved granite island, and an informal dining area. Bay windows overlook the backyard. Updated with high-end stainless-steel appliances, the kitchen features a curved island snack bar and an informal dining area set into a bay window that overlooks the backyard. A vast lawn is flanked by trees that provide extra privacy during the summer. A swimming pool and spa are present as well.
Ashanti released her self-titled debut album in 2002 and became the first female artist to simultaneously hold the top two positions on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. The album ultimately went triple platinum, and Ashanti earned a Grammy, two American Music Awards, and eight Billboard Music Awards. Her next two albums, “Chapter II” and “Concrete Rose,” both went platinum.
Ashanti, who reportedly has a net worth of $20 million, has recently been in a battle with her former record company, Irv Gotti’s Murder Inc., over control of her masters.
