Billionaire Kanye West purchased streetwear designer and artist A$AP Bari a brand new Maybach Mercedes after the fashion designer crashed his old one days ago.
Bari is co-founder of the New York hip-hop collective ASAP Mob.
On Wednesday, July 27, the Instagram page, 2cool2blog, shared footage taken from Bari’s Instagram story, revealing he was recently involved in a car accident. He shared a photo of a destroyed Maybach Mercedes and another from his conversation with Ye.
The Yeezy CEO begins by asking, “What’s your home address? Or where you at now?” Bari responded saying, “Thanks. What is it?” and redacted a piece of West’s response with the sad face emoji. West’s message read, “Man I just asked… when it was coming and she said 2mrw afternoon. I don’t want to describe it. Just gonna wait til you get it.”
In a video, Bari asked a man in a Black shirt who the car was for. Shortly after the man responded, “Kanye,” a voice in the background yelled, “He can’t say.” Bari then walks over the vehicle saying, “This n—a Ye bought me a new Maybach, yo. I crashed my Maybach two days ago. If you know me, you know I crashed my Maybach.”
Bari’s old and new SUV is a Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 model. Pricing for the luxury vehicle owned by most rappers begins at about $185,100 before customization. Some outlets place the cost of the car Kanye purchased at around $162,000.
West is known to splurge on his friends, especially as one of Bari’s biggest supporters through controversy.
In 2018, West tweeted, “Bari challenged me when no one else did and when he got in trouble I was scared to say he was my friend just like I did with xxx and that was some p—y s–t on my part. I let the perception and the robots control me. That’s the true sunken place.”
Bari is the most well-known member of the A$AP Mob and the co-founder of the streetwear brand VLONE. VLONE generated $4 million in annual revenue as of 2019 and is valued at $10 million.
Despite his successful career, his personal life has been surrounded by controversy. He lost a deal with Nike in 2018 following sexual assault allegations against him. According to Rolling Stone, the entrepreneur was arrested and later pled guilty to one count of sexual assault stemming from a 2017 incident. He was also ordered to pay a $5,000 fine and $3,500 in compensation to the victim. Bari was arrested a second time in 2018 on felony drug charges in Pennsylvania. And most recently, he was accused of snitching on the Mob family, which led to the arrest of ringleader A$AP Rocky earlier this year. However, Bari is alleging via his Instagram Story that fellow A$AP Mob member Relli Boss is the culprit who called the police.
The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed Rocky’s arrest in a statement on April 20. The rapper, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, is a suspect in a shooting that took place in 2021.
“33-year-old Rakim Mayers, a Los Angeles resident, also known as music artist A$AP Rocky, has been arrested in connection to a shooting that occurred in the Hollywood area in November of 2021.”
Mayers was released the same day after posting a $550,000 bond and will head back to court on Aug. 17.
