Lil Baby took over Atlanta’s West End Mall on Aug. 7, where he was met by thousands of fans. The “Drip Too Hard” rapper expected some 3,000 students for his third annual Back to School Fest.
The West End Mall is in one of Atlanta’s high-crime areas.
For The Kids
Lil Baby treated area kids to music, games, carnival rides, food, backpacks, school supplies, and haircuts. Done in partnership with Footlocker, the event distributed shoes and clothing to every kid in attendance.
The Back to School Fest was also a collaboration with hunger relief company Goodr.
“We are grateful to Lil Baby for his continued resolution in giving back to his community,” Goodr CEO Jasmine Crowe said in a press statement. “It is an honor to continually team up with such a household name to relieve some of the ongoing financial burden people are facing.”
Lil Baby Jobs Initiative
Lil Baby has been making the news for his community work as of late. The Back to School Fest came on the heels of Lil Baby teaming up with Atlanta restaurateur Lemont Bradley for an initiative that aims to create 100 jobs for young people in Atlanta.
“We are looking to give out 100 jobs to teenagers and young adults in the metro Atlanta,” Baby and Bradley said in a joint statement. “With the crime rate surrounding scams, robbery, and even murder being so high, we are looking to provide a positive outlet and revenue stream to those who are looking for an income.”
They continued: “We are so excited about this initiative. Of course, we are looking forward to helping boost the city’s economy, but we are really focused on lowering the city’s crime rate.”
Making Deals Beyond Music
Besides his community efforts, Lil Baby, whose net worth is an estimated $5 million, has also been making business moves. He just announced he teamed up with Axe to create new products for men called “Whaxe.” So far the partnership is offering the Whaxe Pack, which includes a Whaxe full-size stick deodorant on a chain, Whaxe wash in an platinum metallic bottle, and Whaxe cleaner.
“I only do deals that feel authentic to me,” Lil Baby told CBS 46. “Being an Axe user myself, coming up with this collaboration for Whaxe Pack was a natural move for me.”
Pending Trouble?
While things seem to be on the upswing for Lil Baby, the Grammy winner is also having to deal with rumors of pending RICO charges. There is some speculation Lil Baby is headed down the same route as fellow Atlanta rapper and childhood friend Young Thug, who was arrested on multiple RICO charges.
When one person tweeted to Lil Baby, “Man, you better look out for that RICO everybody keep talking about.”
Lil baby responded, “Only God can judge me.”
The MC doesn’t seem to be worried about RICO allegations, instead Lil Baby, who is touring with Christ Brown on the “One of Them One’s” tour until Aug. 27, is more concerned about his ultimate business goal. He wants to start an investment group for Black millionaires.
He tweeted, “We can run the world if we play it right.”
