Wendy Williams is no longer on TV, but her bills still have to be paid.
The Jersey Shore gossiper is paying off her $3 million loan on her $4.5 million New York City apartment, The Sun reported. And, despite not having direct control over her own money due to a financial guardianship, there have been no reports she is behind on her loan payments, although her ex-husband, Kevin Hunter, recently had claimed she was behind on her alimony payments.
The 2,400-square-foot luxury condo was purchased in June 2021, and it has three bedrooms, three bathrooms, high ceilings, granite countertops, and spacious balcony views. She also has access to a gym, indoor pool, game room, spa, movie theater, sauna, and steam room.
Williams reportedly pays $20,000 a month for mortgage, maintenance and New York City property taxes.
Williams’ mortgage is held with Wells Fargo.
Wendy’s Messy Finances
Williams reputedly was once making as much as $10 million a year on her popular TV morning show, which got canceled for her health-related absences.
Williams has amassed a net worth of an estimated $20 million.
In 2022, she was placed under financial guardianship after her bank, Wells Fargo, said it was concerned she might be exploited financially. Williams’ camp argued Wells Fargo was holding her money hostage and that she was of sound mind to make her own financial decisions.
In May 2022, Williams was placed under a conservatorship, something her former financial adviser Sabrina Morrissey and Wells Fargo petitioned in February of that year.
Wells Fargo claimed in a petition for guardianship that Williams is an “incapacitated person.” The bank argued that she’s the “victim of undue influence and financial exploitation,” The Hollywood Reporter reported.
The guardianship pays her bills. Yet her ex recently claimed in the press that he was about to lose his home because Williams has failed to pay her alimony payments. He took the matter to court. The TV host’s attorney countered that that she has not received money from “The Wendy Williams Show” since October 2021.
“On October 15, of 2021 plaintiff was informed by Talk WW that her contract was being suspended and that no compensation shall accrue or be payable to plaintiff for the duration of plaintiff’s disability and incapacity,” Wendy’s attorney wrote.
The attorney said that based on their divorce settlement, Hunter is not entitled to alimony payments because her talk show was canceled. In February, a judge denied Hunter’s request that alimony payments resume.
Wendy Wants her Money
“The New York system is, without evidence, they’re being weird to me. They took all this information and continued with what’s going on with me based on what Wells Fargo is doing… Please let me have access to my money,” she posted on Instagram in early 2022, The Independent reported.
“I’m tired of everyone speaking as if they’re me in this scenario,” she captioned the post. “It’s time I let all of my loving supporters know what’s really been going on with Wendy.”
The End of ‘The Wendy Williams Show’
Her final episode aired on June 14, 2022, after 14 seasons.
Williams health-related issues are her Graves’ disease, lymphedema, and substance abuse.
