Singer Ashanti has had a six-bedroom, 5.5-bathroom brick neocolonial mansion on Long Island, New York, on the market for a year.
Ashanti’s Old Westbury mansion had an asking price of $2.2 million, which is about the same amount the artist bought the house for, $1.95 million in 2003, according to Dirt.
The 42-year-old singer is a Long Island girl, having been born and raised in Glen Cove, Long Island.
Finally, a Taker
It seems Ashanti may have finally found a buyer for her 2-acre property. According to reports multiple real estate sites, there is a pending sale for a mansion at $2.2 million.
The development comes as rumors swirl that the singer has reconciled with former love, hip-hop star Nelly, 48. The two began dating in 2003 during the height of both of their careers. They were together 10 years before they ended things in 2013.
Ashanti’s home, built in 1999, is a 5,345-square-foot residence with printed wallpaper, chandeliers, and floor-to-ceiling columns. The two-story entryway features a sweeping staircase and patterned tile flooring.
The living room has a cozy fireplace, while the family room has another fireplace and French doors leading to the outdoor patio and dining area.
The floors are a mix of wood and tile throughout the home, and the property has a three-car garage and a backyard surrounded by tall trees and equipped with an in-ground pool. There is also a spa.
The home’s kitchen has high-end stainless steel appliances, a curved island snack bar and an informal dining area in a bay window overlooking the backyard.
Ashanti, whose full name is Ashanti Shequoiya Douglas, appears to prioritize privacy and luxury, judging from the home’s appearance. Its vast lawn is flanked by trees to help provide privacy. The mansion is a short distance away between the Long Island Expressway and the Jericho Turnpike, making it only about 25 miles east of Manhattan, Realty.com reported.
Ashanti, a Music Mainstay
As Finurah previously reported, Ashanti, who still tours consistently, released her self-titled debut album in 2002 and became the first female artist to simultaneously hold the top two positions on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
The album eventually went triple platinum and Ashanti won a Grammy, two American Music Awards and eight Billboard Music Awards. Last year, she was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame as she also celebrated the 20th anniversary of her debut album.
Her next two albums, “Chapter II” and “Concrete Rose,” both went platinum.
Ashanti, who reportedly has a net worth of $20 million, partnered with EQ Exchange, a Web3 company using blockchain technology to promote musicians and engage fans, in March 2022. EQ Exchange is a woman-owned tech company in Silicon Valley, and Ashanti is the first Black woman artist to become a co-founder of a Web3 company.
