Gospel singer Yolanda Adams, 61, is selling her 7,600 square-foot Northern Italian-style estate for $2,875,000. The “Open My Heart” singer has made the property her home in Houston since 2006, but after close to 20 years, she has put it on the market.
Sources say the home was built in 2005, and was almost new when she bought it.
The mansion sits on .34 acres of land in a gated community, but according to Realtor.com, it is still “convenient to the city’s many amenities.”
The tone of the inside of the home is a series of calming natural nudes, with cream, beige, tan and gray overtones throughout, and is described as “chic and functional.” The exterior is designed with stucco.
It also includes six bedrooms, eight bathrooms, and a double-height foyer when you enter its doors.
One stand-out bedroom, its first-floor primary bedroom, has hardwood floors, a coffered ceiling, large closets, and huge oversized windows that reach up to about a foot or so to its barrel ceiling. The ensuite bathroom has Italian-style fresco paintings on the barrel ceiling with a beautiful grand window over a two-step soaking tub.
It also has central cooling pushing through the ginormous house on those hot Houston days.
A few special features of the home are a beautiful fountain, a main floor study, a game room, a three-car garage, two fireplaces and a grand sweeping staircase.
While the new owner will have the right to change the design of the home in the way he or she would like, Adams, one of the world’s best-selling gospel artists, has outfitted her dining room with a wine closet and wet bar and used the area just past the entryway seamlessly as a formal living room.
The cavernous kitchen has a center island and a walk-in pantry. Adams had stocked this room with Thermador appliances. A unique feature is a built-in desk for those whose work can’t wait for the office.
In addition to the stairs, there is an elevator on the property. Guests can use either source to go to the third-floor guest suite which has its own amenities, including a small kitchen.
Entertaining will be great for the new owner. Near the outdoor fountain, whoever drops almost $3 million for the house, could have guests over to hang out at the pool and its multiple patios, in the spa or next to the fireplace.
Adams looks to substantially increase her financial portfolio with the sale of this property. Currently, her estimated net worth is $5 million. If she sells for the asking price, she will almost double.
The four-time Grammy Award-winning singer’s estate has been listed by Sharon Brier of Greenwood King Properties.
