LeBron James, the legendary NBA superstar, is known for his exceptional skills on the basketball court. However, it’s not just his game that seems to garner attention; it’s also his sense of style.
For the opening game of the 2023-24 NBA season, King James made an expensive fashion statement, wearing an outfit reportedly worth over $28,000.
The $28,000 Louis Vuitton Ensemble
The 38-year-old billionaire baller, who has entered his 21st season in the NBA, made a grand entrance at Ball Arena in Denver for the Los Angeles Lakers’ opening game against the defending champion Denver Nuggets. The 19-time All-Star forward showcased a head-turning Louis Vuitton outfit on the first night of the NBA season.
James’s outfit featured a collarless jacket with a price tag of more than $5,000. Complementing the jacket were Louis Vuitton pants, valued at $1,250. He completed the ensemble with Louis Vuitton checker derby kicks priced at $1,220. James didn’t stop with clothing; he accessorized with a Speedy Bandouliere 40 shoulder bag costing $11,000 and a Louis Vuitton briefcase with a price tag of $9,500, TMZ reported.
Some of those pieces James is flashing are from Pharrell’s men’s spring-summer 2024 collection. In February, Pharrell was named Louis Vuitton’s new men’s creative director. He debuted his items in Paris this summer.
A Notable Fashion History
James choosing this extravagant outfit was not an isolated incident. He’s made headlines for his luxurious fashion choices in the past. For example, in 2018, during his time with the Cleveland Cavaliers, he wore an costly outfit worth as well for Game 1 of the Finals against the Golden State Warriors. Aaron Dodson of ESPN’s The Undefeated reported that James’ outfit — including a suit jacket paired with shorts, his sunglasses, alligator bag and headphones — ran him $46,964.95. But if you add in the rare watch he was reportedly sporting, the entire ensemble totaled nearly $87,000.
James is also known for his high-end watch collection, with some of the timepieces worth more than half a million, Essentially Sports reported.
James finished with 21 points, eight rebounds and five assists in 29 minutes as the Lakers opened with a 119-107 loss to the team that swept them in the Western Conference finals last season.
