Retired NFL wide receiver Chad Ochocinco is known for being frugal but there is one expense he hasn’t skimped on: his fiancee’s engagement ring.
According to Black Millionaires, Ochocinco spent $250,000 on an oval cut, 7.5-carat engagement ring for his fiancée, Sharelle Rosado.
“When it comes to her, I don’t play,” Ochocinco said in a conversation with Shannon Sharpe. “I’m gonna open up my purse. It wasn’t nothing.”
Ochocinco is reportedly worth $15 million and played in the NFL for 11 seasons for teams such as the Cincinnati Bengals, New England Patriots and the Miami Dolphins. Ochocinco was a six-time NFL Pro Bowler and included in four All-Pro teams. For the Bengals 40th Anniversary Team, he was voted as the number-one wide receiver. He was also named one of the “Most Influential Athletes In Social Media” by CNBC.
Despite his wealth, Ochocinco has shared on various social media platforms that he still flies Spirit Airlines, and that if he were still on the dating scene, he would not spend more than $300 for dinner.
“I am extremely cheap and financially conscious,” he told Angie Lolo on the “Talk That Shhh” podcast. “I’m going to save it.”
Building A Life With Rosado
Although Ochocinco often speaks of saving and keeping a cheap mindset, he also shares that he is excited to have a wedding with Rosado.
“I’m finna cut up at the wedding,” he told Shannon Sharpe.
Rosado launched the Tampa-based real estate brokerage Allure Realty in 2019. The agency sells homes in Miami, Tampa Bay and Charlotte. In 2021, Rosado starred in “Selling Tampa,” which aired for one season on Netflix. The reality show was a spinoff of “Selling Sunset” and featured an all-Black, all-female cast. Rosado is also a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served 13 years and completing two deployments in Afghanistan.
The couple began dating in 2020. They welcomed their daughter, Serenity “Hurricane” Paula in 2022 and Ochocinco proposed in January.
“I’m honestly shocked! I’m at a loss for words,” Rosado said after the engagement. “This was absolutely beautiful and to see my family and friends here to celebrate our love, that really did it for me,” Rosado told PEOPLE. “He is definitely not a planner, so for him to pull this off for me is so amazing. Just the thought he put into this and having our family and friends here to witness says a lot.”
Together, the two share 11 children: their daughter, three Rosado had before her relationship with Ochocinco, and his seven children from previous relationships.
