Parked in the garages of some stars are rare auto finds. Beyoncé is the proud owner of a rare 1959 Rolls-Royce that was bought for $1 million by her then-boyfriend Jay-Z for her 25th birthday — Sept. 4, 2006.
It is not clear if Beyoncé, who recently celebrated her 42nd birthday, still owns the vintage Silver Cloud Rolls-Royce II Drophead. But it is considered a great addition to any car collection.
About The Cloud
The Silver Cloud II is currently valued between $200,000 and $450,000 in perfect condition; while in lesser quality condition on the auction block, it ranges from $40,000 to $60,000, according to Auto Museum Online.
However, among some collectors, the car’s value could be between $6,000 and $1,500,000, according to Vintage Car Collector.
The Silver Cloud series, produced in limited numbers from 1955 to 1966 with approximately 7,885 units, featured three versions, Auto Museum reported. The Silver Cloud would be the predecessor to the Bentley S-1. Beyoncé’s II model, as reported by MotorTrends, boasted a horsepower of 185 with its original 6.2-liter V8 engine.
The Silver Cloud II features a four-speed automatic transmission, with an optional four-speed manual. It has four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes, and its dimensions are 123.0 inches in wheelbase, 212.0 inches in overall length, 75.0 inches in width, and 64.0 inches in height. The curb weight is 4,670 lbs.
Regardless, the birthday present of the Silver Cloud II was reportedly her dream car to own, and even more sentimental is that Jay-Z, real name Sean Carter, placed a sign on the front seat that read “reserved for Mrs. Carter,” Super Blondie reported.
It was in the following year, on Dec. 4, 2007, on his birthday, that Jay-Z proposed to Beyoncé, presenting her with a 24-carat emerald-cut diamond engagement ring featuring a platinum split shank, designed by Lorraine Schwartz. The couple tied the knot in early 2008 in a glamorous and private ceremony, according to The Knot.
The couple has been together since 1999.
