These days, where Kanye West goes controversy follows. He and his latest musical collaborator Ty Dolla $ign recently were hosting a private listening party in Las Vegas for their new album, “Vultures.” There were many eager fans who paid to attend the event. But then the Las Vegas police showed up. It seems the event was unauthorized and had to be shut down.
When Kanye Stay in Vegas
On Dec. 14, close to midnight, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police shut down the self-described “rave” after receiving a tip that it was not licensed, TMZ reported.
The $2,000-per-person event sold tickets through Eventnoire. Scheduled to start at midnight after opening its doors at 11 p.m., it was shut down by the police just 20 minutes in. No arrests were made.
According to ABC Las Vegas, the rapper’s event, which charged an additional $2,000 to watch the official livestream on the YEEZY website, took place at a 36,810-square-foot warehouse that could accommodate more than the small crowd gathered for the remote desert party.
There are no reports of attendees requesting refunds after the event was canceled, and it is unclear if refunds are being offered.
The number of people who attended the exclusive event or paid to watch the paywalled stream is indeterminate. However, some videos and pictures that were leaked indicate that it was an intimate get-together.
The shutdown led to West, who prefers to be referred to by his legally changed first name, Ye, going on a 10-minute rant where he mentions Jesus Christ, Adolf Hitler, and Donald Trump, The New York Post reported.
On A Rant
“Who’s going to make the hospitals, though? He’s a Zionist, Trump. This is what I’ve been trying to tell you. Jesus Christ, Hitler, Ye, third party, sponsor that,” the rapper said.
The unhinged rant viewable on social media primarily comprises anti-Semitic remarks that similarly led to the dissolution of West’s business relationships.
The tirade also namedrops Balenciaga creative director Demna, Jay-Z, brother-in-law Travis Scott, Drake, and Nicki Minaj, with whom he now has a complicated relationship, HotNewHipHop reported.
“Y’all ain’t stop that Adidas s**t,” he said during one point of his rant. “Y’all n***as let Adidas crash the richest n***a of all time. I put up one tweet. Then, Ari Emanuel put, ‘Oh, we gotta drop this n***a,’ and all n***as just watched. The only n***a that had the Trump hat. The only n***a that went and got them billions, the only n***a that break through all kinds of ideas in fashion. I’ve been called a f***ot so many times for tight jeans.”
He went on, “I got n***as from Chicago that I take care of that still try to sell me. Who you think the old man call? When we put Drake on stage, who you think the old man call? You know what I’m saying?”
The rapper, whose net worth has dropped from billionaire status to $400 million, according to Forbes, said this — and more — to the crowd of people before the shuttering.
Kanye conlcuded, “They sabotaged the show today, they sabotaged the Instagram. They cut off the f**king Adidas contract. Then they wanna go get light-skinned Ye. You get what I’m saying?”
As Finurah previously reported, his once lucrative partnership with Adidas, contributing to his former billionaire status, was severed due to hate speech.
The Las Vegas date is a follow-up to his Miami event that was held on Dec. 12, featuring his first child, 10-year-old North, performing on stage with her father and company for the first time.
“I love it here / We gonna take over the year for another year / It’s your bestie, Miss Miss Westie,” North rhymed as her father smiled and nodded beside her, the New York Post reported. North was at the Las Vegas event, too.
West and Ty Dolla $ign finished their album, “Vultures,” with the lead single, the title track, dropping in November.
