Rapper Lil Uzi Vert is making headlines as he hints he may leave the world of music behind and venture into the realm of women’s fashion design following the release of “Luv Is Rage 3.”
According to Lil Uzi Vert, he is losing his love for hip-hop, and recently he expressed his desire to shift focus to designing women’s clothing, TMZ reported he said last week. “Luv Is Rage 3” is his fourth and potentially final studio album.
He also pointed out that construction is already being done on a building for his fashion brand and that his girlfriend, JT of the rap group City Girls, wouldn’t be part of his fashion venture, as she has her own clothing brand in place.
The rapper’s quick rise to stardom was recognized by Forbes when he made the 30 Under 30 2018 list for the music category.
Fashion Verses Music
Lil Uzi Vert, occasionally seen wearing women’s clothes and makeup, has collaborated with fashion brands to promote high fashion and hip-hop culture to young fans. He has been spotted wearing Givenchy, Balmain, and has worn Off-White. Additionally, late designer Virgil Abloh was the creative director for Lil Uzi Vert’s debut album art and his music video.
Despite expressing confidence in the album, Lil Uzi Vert told TMZ, “I don’t really want to make music like that anymore,” emphasizing that this upcoming release will mark his music finale.
TMZ reports Vert said is already in the process of crafting women’s clothing in an established home office for his upcoming clothing venture. However, crucial details remain undisclosed.
“I came to this conclusion not too long ago,” the Philly rapper said. “I was gonna wait till later to say it but, you know, I’m dropping ‘Luv Is Rage 3’ and ‘Luv Is Rage 3’ will be my last album.”
Upon the album’s release, which currently lacks a set date, Lil Uzi Vert plans to commence his final tour. Under Atlantic Records, he has consistently delivered a studio album every three consecutive years, including “Luv is Rage 2” (2017), “Eternal Atake” (2020), and the recently unveiled “Pink Tape” (2023) in October.
Lil Uzi Vert’s Music Legacy
Most of Lil Uzi Vert’s studio albums debut at No. 1 with more than 100,000 units being sold, “Pink Tape” sold 167,000 copies in its first week and was No. 1 on Billboard, Beats Rhymes Lists reported.
“Luv is Rage” surfaced as a mixtape in 2015, but it wasn’t until the release of “Lil Uzi Vert vs. The World” and “The Perfect LUV Tape” on April 15 and July 31, 2016, respectively, that he gained mainstream recognition, earning Platinum and Gold certifications from the RIAA.
His popularity in 2016 was also recognized in his feature on “Bad and Boujee” by The Migos.
