Retired NBA player and entrepreneur Shaquille O’Neal is one of the most prominent figures in popular culture. From endorsements with brands such as Icy Hot and The General to sparring with Charles Barkley on “Inside the NBA,” O’Neal has cemented his family’s wealth. He recently shared with NFL player Jason Kelce that despite the wealth he has amassed, it’s lonely without his family.
“I made a lot of dumbass mistakes to where I lost my family, and I didn’t have anybody,” O’Neal shared on his podcast, “The Big Podcast with Shaq.” “That’s not the case for you. So, enjoy your beautiful wife, enjoy your beautiful kids.”
O’Neall, who has a reputed net worth of $500 million, played the center position for teams such as the Orlando Magic, Los Angeles Lakers, Miami Heat and Phoenix Suns. In his 19-year career as a basketball player, O’Neal was named NBA Rookie of the Year. He also earned four NBA championships, three NBA Finals MVP awards and 15 All-Star selections.
Today, O’Neal is an analyst on “Inside the NBA.” In addition to his on-court successes, O’Neal’s endorsements with brands such as Reebok, Icy Hot, Pepsi, The General and Buick continue to contribute to his wealth. As an entrepreneur, O’Neal is the owner of several franchises including Papa Johns, Five Guys, Auntie Anne’s and Krispy Kreme.
Yet O’Neal admits that mistakes that he made in his marriage have left him alone.
“What we had is what we got — you got the (Super Bowl) ring, people know who you are, enjoy,” he told Kelce. “Because, again, I was an idiot, and I’ve talked about it a long time. I love my whole family. I’m in a 100,000-square-foot house by myself.”
According to public records obtained by the New York Post, O’Neal owns nine properties in Nevada, Georgia, Texas and Florida. Here’s a look at some of O’Neal’s real estate investments.
