“Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Porsha Williams’ estranged husband Simon Guobadia’s company, Simcol Petroleum Limited Company, has found itself embroiled in legal trouble after failing to respond to a lawsuit over an unpaid private jet bill. Despite a default judgment ordering Simcol to pay a hefty sum of $887,000, Guobadia seems to be confident that the matter will be resolved.
Inside the Lawsuit
According to court documents obtained by RadarOnline.com, though not confirmed by other outlets, NetJets Aviation, Inc. filed a lawsuit against Simcol in January, alleging that the company breached a deal to lease a fractional interest in a private jet. The lawsuit claimed that Simcol failed to make timely payments under the agreement, leading to the termination of the contract by NetJets.
Initially, Simcol reached a settlement agreement with NetJets in August 2023, agreeing to pay $839,000 in monthly installments. However, Simcol reportedly failed to make the required payments, prompting NetJets to demand the remaining balance of $814,000 plus interest.
According to the lawsuit, NetJets asserted that Guobadia’s company, Simcol, entered into an agreement in August 2020 to lease a 12.5 percent stake in a Cessna Citation aircraft. Subsequently, the interest was augmented to 15.62 percent.
“Defendants breached the terms of the Program Agreement by failing to timely pay to Plaintiffs all amounts due under the Program Agreement, and Plaintiffs terminated the Program Agreement under its terms on or about February 28, 2023,” the suit read.
NetJets’ complaint continued, “At the time of the termination of the Program Agreement, Defendant owed to Plaintiffs the amount of $974,213.11 under the terms of the Program Agreement.”
In response to the lawsuit, Guobadia included what he described as a “threatening text” from Williams, suggesting that she may be attempting to tarnish his reputation. Nevertheless, Guobadia remains focused on addressing the issue and moving forward.
As the legal proceedings unfold, it remains to be seen how Guobadia and Simcol will navigate the situation and if it will affect his divorce from Porsha Williams.
