Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson has successfully sold her Washington, D.C., home. Listed in April for $2.5 million, the property was snapped up for $2.6 million, providing Jackson a solid return on her investment, considering she purchased it in 2013 for $1,875,000, Newsweek reports.
Inside Ketanji Brown Jackson’s Home
The home, built in 2005, spans a 6,129 square feet and includes six bedrooms, and 5.5 baths. The listing, according to Realtor, highlighted the home as having “all the bells and whistles, nothing missing!”
Key features include several main-floor sitting areas, a formal living room with a gas fireplace, a den, and a library. Standout details such as crown molding, large windows, a sound system, central vacuum, and hardwood flooring add to its charm.
The kitchen boasts professional-grade appliances, including two Wolf ovens, a Sub-Zero fridge, and a wine fridge. The primary suite, along with three additional bedrooms, is located on the second floor. The top-floor loft space, which includes another bedroom and bath, can be used as a creative room, playroom, or workspace.
The basement features a fitness studio, crafts room, a sixth bedroom, and an en suite bath. Outdoor amenities include a deck with an open-air kitchen and dining space, perfect for entertaining. Additionally, the property features an attached two-car garage and is conveniently located near public transit, with the Friendship Heights Metro just three blocks away.
Jackson, 53, has been an associate justice of the Supreme Court since 2022. Previously, the Harvard Law graduate served as a U.S. circuit judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit. She is the first Black woman and first former federal public defender to serve on the nation’s highest court.
The sale of Jackson’s home not only highlights its desirable features but also suggests that its association with a Supreme Court Justice may have added to its appeal. As Kevin Thompson, a finance expert and the founder and CEO of 9i Capital Group, told Newsweek, “There is no doubt this home was beautiful and very spacious, but we cannot ignore the fact that it was owned by a Supreme Court Justice.”
