Vice President Kamala Harris is busy collecting endorsements from prominent members of the Democratic Party and supporters are raising money for her presidential run. But just where does Harris call home when not on the campaign trail?
Over the years, Harris, who has a net worth of $6 million, has owned several properties in California and Washington, D.C. Here’s a look at a few of her current residences and once-owned properties.
The Official Home of the Vice President
When Harris was sworn in as vice president, she hired coveted interior designer Sheila Bridges to decorate Number One Observatory Circle to her liking. Number One Observatory Circle has been the residence of U.S. vice presidents since Walter Mondale served as under President Jimmy Carter.
Bridges worked with Harris and the first gentleman Doug Emhoff to integrate their California-style into the residence. With a neutral color palette, the home also boasts splashes of color throughout such as the pink wallpaper in the library.
Located in the U.S. Naval Observatory, the Victorian-style residence is three miles from the White House. The 9,000 square foot home includes a living and dining room on the first floor. Throughout there are cozy fireplaces, expansive verandas and a heated pool for relaxing. The second and third floors are Harris’ personal living space and feature several turreted living spaces.
Outside, 13 acres of land include cherry blossoms, Japanese magnolias, tulips, and daffodils.
California Love: Brentwood, CA
Two years before marrying Harris, Emhoff purchased a home in Brentwood, California. Emhoff, who is an entertainment attorney, purchased the home for $2.7 million in 2012. The home includes four bedrooms, five bathrooms, and an outdoor swimming pool.
Realtor reports that following the couple’s marriage, Emhoff transferred to a joint trust so that Harris would also own the property. The property is currently valued at $5.3 million, the source reported.
An Abode for the U.S. Senator
In 2017, just as Harris was elected as a U.S. senator, she purchased a 1,700 square foot condominium for $1.7 million. Located in the West End neighborhood of Washington, the apartment boasted two bedrooms, two bathrooms. In addition, the building included round the clock concierge service, a pet washing area, and a heated rooftop.
In 2021, the couple sold the condo for $1.85 million.
Bachelorette Pad in San Francisco
In 2004, Harris purchased a 1,069-square-foot loft in San Francisco for $489,000.
Located in the South of Market community, the loft included one bedroom complete with a walk-in closet along, with one and a half bathrooms. With floor-to-ceiling windows, a fireplace, chef’s kitchen, and private patio, it was Harris’ relaxation space as she served as San Francisco’s first Black district attorney.
Harris sold the property in 2021 for $799,000.
