Athletic couple Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens have been customizing their Houston-area home, which has been under construction for over a year.
Olympic gymnast Biles and NFL player Owens, who recently signed with the Chicago Bears after previously playing for the Green Bay Packers, have been sharing updates on the home they are building.
Biles recently shared on Instagram her bathroom with its marble gray-and-white floor tiles and black-and-white walls, a freestanding tub, and brass fixtures.
Inside the Home–So Far
As People magazine reported, the construction began in March 2023, but Biles and Owens have been documenting their progress on social media since September 2023.
In 2023, Biles revealed that their dream home would feature black-and-white geometric floors and offer a waterfront view through large sliding glass doors.
The couple is currently living in a nearby mansion in Spring, Texas, which Biles purchased in 2020.
Given the size of the soon-to-be-built mansion, it appears that living there will be more expensive than their current Spring address, which was on the market for $863,500 in 2020, according to Morningstar.
Using the details gathered so far, a luxury waterfront home in Houston could reach a price between $3 and 4 million or more, according to The Texas Home Resource, for an example there is a listing for a waterfront property in the 77024 zip code for $3,850,000.
However, it remains uncertain whether they will sell their current home or expand their property portfolio.
As construction nears completion, the progress so far reveals the finalized look of the kitchen, spacious closet, gym, and entertainment areas, like a theater for movie nights and games room — a mix of modern gaming consoles and classic arcade games, according to Architectural Digest.
The home, including a wet bar, and balconies with water views on the upper level, will have Biles’s beloved grayscale palette.
Biles has a net worth of $7 million, with her earnings of $100,000 in competitions in 2023. Athletes such as her can earn about $37,000 for a gold medal, but it is not guaranteed income.
Owens is said to have a net worth of $5 million. He recently signed a 2-year, $4.75 million contract with the Chicago Bears this year, a contract that includes a $750,000 signing bonus, $1.5 million guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $2.375 million.
Prior to joining the Bears, Owens signed a 2-year, $1.39 million contract with the Green Bay Packers in 2022. His base salary with the Packers was set at $695,000 per year, which increased to $780,000 in 2021.
Before his time with the Packers, Owens had a contract with the Houston Texans.
