Adam Sandler’s Jaw-Dropping $200K Maserati Gift to Chris Rock and the ‘Grown Ups’ Cast

It’s been years since Adam Sandler made headlines with one of the most extravagant thank-yous in Hollywood. After the success of the 2010 comedy “Grown Ups,” Sandler gifted his co-stars Chris Rock, David Spade, Kevin James, and Rob Schneider a lavish surprise —each receiving a Maserati as a token of his appreciation for their time on the film.

That’s One Expensive Gift

While the specific model gifted is not detailed, three likely candidates are the Maserati GranTurismo, Maserati Levante, and Maserati Quattroporte. All three are luxury models, and their performance options and upgrades can exceed or be around $200,000.

The group, who have shared a long and successful journey in comedy, seemed astonished by Sandler’s generous gesture.

Sandler, who also produced the film, was pleased that it grossed more than $270 million at the box office with a budget of $80 million and went on to make a sequel, reuniting with his co-stars from the hit comedy, according to Box Office Mojo.

Sandler is estimated to be worth $100 million and was ranked ninth among Hollywood’s most overpaid stars by Forbes in 2014, while Rock has a net worth of $60 million.

In an episode of Esquire’s “Explain This,” Chris Rock shared that his friendship with Adam Sandler dates back to their early days as stand-up comedians, even before “Saturday Night Live.”

Rock first met Sandler on the comedy circuit at New York’s legendary Comic Strip Live.

Though they were rivals in their budding careers, competing for stage time, Rock was never jealous.

“So I’m supposed to hate him,” Rock told Esquire. “I watch his act and he’s so funny. He’s so funny. I just fell in love with him. Then he got off stage and we talked and we hung out. He was going to NYU and I hung out at his dorm. I just love the guy.”

Their bond today is strong, with Rock telling stories of Sandler dancing with his aunt Lillian at Rock’s wedding. Rock humorously told Esquire that Sandler’s wedding dance made him a favorite among Rock’s family.

According to The Thing, Rock and Sandler’s friendship dates back more than 30 years.
