Tee Grizzley’s fifth album is set to drop on Oct. 11, but the hip-hop artist doesn’t have all his eggs in one basket. In addition to being a rapper, Tee Grizzley is a gamer with an extensive online presence, allowing him to generate income outside of his recording career.
In a recent interview with the podcast, “Earn Your Leisure,” Tee Grizzley shared how he earns income as a gamer.
How Tee Grizzley Makes His Money
“The way to make money, you gotta know how to repurpose things,” the hip-hop artist and gamer told show hosts. “Boom, you got subscribers, you got ads, you got people that can donate to you — and the sky’s the limit with all that stuff.”
Tee Grizzley burst on the scene in 2017 with his single, “First Day Out.” In just three weeks, the single’s video gained 2 million views on YouTube and later was listed on the Billboard Hot 100. His first studio album, “Activated,” came in 2018, followed by “Scriptures,” “Built for Whatever” and “Tee’s Coney Island.” Now Tee Grizzley is about to drop his fifth album, “Post Traumatic,” featuring collaborations with artists such as J.Cole and Future.
But it’s not only his storytelling abilities and witty lyrics that are earning Tee Grizzley top dollars. The rapper, whose net worth is reportedly between $4 and $5 million, has an online presence blending his love of lyricism and gaming. On the show, Tee Grizzley shared that he has always loved playing video games. Early in his childhood, “007” and “Call of Duty,” were his favorite games. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he was looking for an outlook and began venturing into online gaming with Grizzley World RP. Now he plays online and makes money.
”I went from the old way to the new way,” he said. “You build community, and that’s the main thing that I get from it.”
Today, Tee Grizzley’s online presence is formidable. On YouTube, he has 2.45 million subscribers. And just one tweet in 2021 requesting people to follow him on Twitch has led him to ultimately having 1.1 million subscribers on the live streaming service. Followers tap into his account to watch Tee Grizzley play video games in real time.
The rapper and gamer discovered that repurposing his content on various online platforms would ultimately help him generate even more income.
“I take the Twitch videos that are already streamed, [and] put it on YouTube,” he shared during the interview. “Get paid from the two, and I get paid from the server.”
