Here’s What Happened

In the clip, posted on Aug. 1, 2016, Harvey, who has an estimated net worth of more than $200 million, was telling the live audience of the “Steve Harvey Show” about how after discovering one winning “Family Feud” contestant was terminally ill he gave the man additional money.

Harvey described how during the “Family Feud” episode, the comedian sensed something was off with the contestant when he noticed the man sweating so much that he was instructed to change his clothes between takes. The contestant, who was also his team’s captain, eventually won $20,000 after losing three of the five previous days.

The captain’s joy brought him to his knees, prompting Harvey to check on the man off-camera to see if everything was alright.

The man explained his condition, saying he was uninsured and had only three months to live and that the money was for burial costs, taking Harvey aback, even as he shared what was happening with the audience.

Hearing the man’s story motivated the host to the contestant and his family an additional $25,000 of his own money.

It is unclear who where this unnamed man lived, but in most states, according to Lincoln Heritage Funeral Advantage, the average cost of burial is between $7,000 and $12,000, with cremation services costing between $6,000 and $7,000.

The “Steve’s Unforgettable Family Feud Moment” YouTube clip was brief but had reached more than 3.5 million views on YouTube with more than 3,200 likes.

As one person commented on the YouTube clip, “There is no better way, to spend your money. he won`t miss the money, but it makes a great difference for this family. great, steve.”
