WNBA star Angel Reese is living large in her luxury $8,000-a-month apartment, sitting on top of the world in an upscale Chicago high-rise in the South Loop neighborhood. But despite her success on the court, the 22-year-old social media sensation recently admitted that she’s living “beyond her means” and that she cannot rely solely on her WNBA salary to pay her bills.
In a recent Instagram Story, the Chicago Sky forward joked earlier this month that she’s “living beyond her means,” even revealing she’s unsure of what she makes from basketball alone. “Hatin’ pays them bills, baby,” Reese said. “I just hope y’all know the WNBA don’t pay my bills at all. I don’t even think that doesn’t pays one of my bills.” As she tried to calculate her rent versus her salary, Reese quipped, “I don’t even know my salary—74 [thousand]?”
It turns out that with her first season with the Chicago Sky she earned $73,439 as part of the $324,383 four-year contract she signed with the team.
So, how does Reese manage to afford her $8,000-a-month rent? Her social media engagement, high-profile endorsement deals, and her new podcast deal, “Unapologetically Angel.”
During her time at Louisiana State University (LSU), Reese had one of the highest NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness) valuations among college athletes. Following her NCAA championship win in 2023, Reese’s potential NIL earnings skyrocketed to an estimated $876,000, according to On3.
Reese has inked deals with major brands like McDonald’s, Wingstop, Amazon, Coach, PlayStation, among others. By the end of 2023, Reese, whose net worth has been estimated to be between $1.5 and $3 million, had earned a whopping $1.7 million from sponsorships alone — more than enough to cover her high-price rent.
Now … About That Angel Reese’s Apartment
While the building has not been named or confirmed, according to Realtor.com, Reese lives in one of Chicago’s most luxurious buildings, complete with stunning views of the skyline and Lake Michigan. Among the building amenities are: a basketball court, squash court, full-size boxing ring, and a golf simulator, Pilates studio, a spa offering wellness services, and a media lounge with a private movie theater. There’s also an indoor lap pool with saunas, steam rooms, and outdoor pools for tenants.
A lounge area features seating, a kitchenette with a bar, a microwave drawer, dishwasher, an ice maker, mini fridge, and sink; indoor/outdoor fireplace; 12-foot wood millwork ceiling; a pool table; and outdoor lounge-style seating. The building even has an on-site restaurant and communal chef’s kitchen. And, if you need to work from home, tenants can use a dedicated work space.
Reese’s money revelation on social media brought immediate backlash, with some suggesting she get a more affordable apartment — or to buy a home. But judging from her social media posts, Reese seems to be enjoying her luxury digs.
