From Not Being Allowed In His Childhood Living Room to Owning Luxury Homes: Inside Actor Samuel L. Jackson’s Real Estate Portfolio

Actor Samuel L. Jackson grew up in a small home in Tennessee but there was one room that was off limits — the living room.

“We had a front room I couldn’t enter unless we had company. The good rugs were there, and the curtains that got stretched and starched, and the three-tier tables with the little figurines,” Jackson told Architectural Digest. “But I guess we have a few things our parents didn’t have.”

Today, Jackson is worth an estimated $250 million and owns properties in California and New York. Jackson’s character portrayals in films such as “The Avengers,” “The Iron Man” franchise, Pulp Fiction and “The Long Kiss Goodnight” solidified him as a coveted actor.  His latest movie, “The Piano Lesson,” will premiere on Netflix on November 22.

When Jackson is not working on a film set, he enjoys resting with his wife, LaTanya, in their home in California. Here’s a look at some of the residences that Jackson has called home throughout his career.

On A Hill in Beverly Hills

Jackson’s primary residence is a property in Beverly Hills. The home was purchased in 2000 for $8.35 million. With more than 11,000 square feet, the main residence includes nine bedrooms and tan bathrooms. In addition, there’s a guest house with two bedrooms, and four and a half.

Outside there is a pool, spa, tennis court, rose garden, Finally, the views of cross-canyon views provide the Jacksons an opportunity to relax.

The Exclusive Upper East Side

In 2005, Jackson purchased a condominium in Lenox Hill, an exclusive neighborhood in New York City. In close proximity to Central Park, the building is 13 floors. Jackson shelled out $4.8 million for the four-bedroom, three-and-a-half bathroom apartment. Throughout the 3,000 square feet of space are high ceilings and herringbone floors. The open concept living and dining room area includes an eat-in kitchen and wet bar. Finally, the apartment’s location — the eighth floor — gives Jackson and his family relaxing views of New York City.

Although Jackson tried to sell the condominium for $13 million in 2018, he decided not to sell. Now, Jackson rents out the apartment for a reported $15,000 per month.

A Harlem Brownstone

Jackson and LaTanya moved to New York in 1972 and quickly became fixtures in the theater community. By 1980, the couple purchased a brownstone in Harlem for $35,000, according to “The New York Times.” But as Jackson’s star continued to rise, the lure of California persuaded him to move.

“One reason for the move [to the West Coast] was the weather. We came back to New York after a year and a half in L.A., and we went to our brownstone in Harlem,” Jackson told The New York Times. “I had to chop the ice off the steps. I still love New York, I just didn’t love being a brownstone owner in Manhattan anymore.”

Jackson and Latonya sold the property for $125,000 in 1997.
