Jennifer Lopez Balked at Bruno Mars’ $5M Wedding Fee: ‘Don’t Be Ridiculous’

Jennifer Lopez was reportedly left speechless after finding out what Bruno Mars would charge her to perform at her wedding to Alex Rodriguez — an event that ultimately never took place. Lopez and Rodriguez had gotten engaged in March 2019 after two years of dating, but they didn’t actually tie the knot before their split in March 2021.

Celebrity wedding planner Marcy Blum recently spilled the details on “The Skinny Confidential Him & Her Podcast,” revealing that Lopez’s wanted Mars as the headline performer for the big day. According to Blum, the “Just the Way You Are” singer was asking for a whopping $5 million for a 45-minute set. Lopez, said Blum, was shocked.

Blum had a working relationship with Mars. She recounted her conversation with Lopez about Mars to podcast host Michael Bosstick, “We just worked with him, and he’s five.”

“Million?” Bosstick asked. “Just to perform for the night?”

“The night?!” Marcy responded. “You get 45 minutes, you get an hour.”

Lopez, said Blue, was not interested. “She was like, ‘Don’t be ridiculous!’” Blum remembered. Blum, who didn’t sign an NDA for her work with the couple, noted that Lopez quickly decided against the idea once she heard the price tag.

With an estimated net worth of over $150 million as of 2020, Lopez could likely afford the steep price. Rodriguez, her former fiancé, has an estimated net worth of $350 million in 2024. Mars has a reported net worth of $175 million.

At the time, Lopez and Rodriguez was planning for a lavish Italian wedding in 2020. The COVID-19 pandemic, however, forced the couple to postpone their nuptials, and by 2021, they had called off their engagement altogether.

Lopez, who rekindled her romance with Ben Affleck shortly after splitting from Rodriguez, tied the knot with the actor in 2022. They are now going through a divorce.
