Jeff Bezos’ fiancée, Lauren Sánchez, was sunbathing on his $500 million yacht when customs officers interrupted her trip to St. Barts.
Police Aboard
Although Bezos was not onboard the custom Netherlands luxury yacht he commissioned in 2018 when police arrived and stopped, Sánchez, her ex-boyfriend — former NFL tight end Tony Gonzalez, the father of her oldest son — and other guests on were on the New Year’s Eve cruise, New York Post reported.
Customs officials searched the vessel and had to be guided by the stewardess. Nothing of significance happened or was found.
It was a three-hour routine check, according to the Post, but a rather inconvenient one as the former TV reporter was wearing a tight Versace bikini while Gonzalez was somewhere at some point shirtless and had a towel wrapped around his waist, according to the pictures obtained by The Post.
Sánchez, who has been officially dating Bezos since 2019, seemed unbothered, TMZ reported. Bezos recently dispelled rumors he was spending $600 million on their wedding.
Atlanta Black Star previously reported that Bezos’ response to a tabloid report of a $600 million NYE wedding featuring celebrities was that “this whole thing is completely false — none of this is happening. The old adage ‘don’t believe everything you read’ is even more true today than it ever has been. Now lies can get ALL the way around the world before the truth can get its pants on. So be careful out there folks and don’t be gullible.”
The sailing yacht was constructed by Oceanco in 2021, and called Koru, which translates to “New Beginnings” in Māori. It first set sail in August 2022, Unilad reported.
Koru is 417 feet tall with its three masts standing 230 feet tall, according to Yacht World. It requires 36 crew members to operate but can only accommodate 18 passengers.
