Super Bowl-Bound Saquon Barkley’s Rookie Year Splurge? A $424K Home for His Parents, Not Himself

Saquon Barkley is gearing up to play in Super Bowl LIX as a running back for the Philadelphia Eagles, but his parents are settled in the $424,000 home he purchased for them during his rookie year.

Inside the House

Located in Whitehall, Pennsylvania—just 63 miles from Philadelphia—the house has appreciated in value, now estimated at around $650,000. According to Professional Football Network, the property spans approximately 2,400 square feet on a 10,018-square-foot lot and features four bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms.

Realtor reported on its Instagram that Barkley, who was first drafted to the New York Giants with a four-year contract worth $31.19 million rookie deal with a $20.767 million signing bonus, used his earnings to secure a home for Alibay Barkley and Tonya Johnson in their state of Pennsylvania that year.

It is typical of players to shower family and friends with gifts they have earned in their professional sporting careers. However, what makes Barkley’s situation noteworthy is that Mr. And Mrs. Barkley had struggled with homelessness in 2001 in the Bronx, New York, before moving to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, seeking a better life for their children, according to The Athletic.

“I’ve been homeless before. I was probably 6 or 7 and we got evicted. I bounced around. Having the support of family and friends helped us, and that got us back on our feet,” Barkley told The Athletic in a 2023 interview.

The 28-year-old player also lives in Montville, New Jersey, on Quarry Mountain Lane in a mansion he purchased in 2020 for more than $3.1 million. The mansion features six bedrooms and five bathrooms, Pro Football Network reported.

In addition, he has a New York City condominium at the Beekman Residences at 5 Beekman St. in the Financial Disctrict, which he shares with this home with his girlfriend, Anna Congdon, and their two children, Jada and Saquon Barkley Jr., valued at $13 million, The New York Post reported.

Barkley played six seasons with the struggling Giants, and over his 74 games he ran for 5,211 yards and 35 touchdowns as well as another 2,100 receiving yards with 12 touchdown catches.

Joining a conference rival team, he signed a three-year contract with the Eagles for $37.75 million on March 11, 2024. The signing paid off big for Philadelphia and Barkley both as he racked up 2005 rushing yards this season despite sitting out the final game of the regular season, a deserved rest before leading the Eagle to the Super Bowl
