DK Metcalf Scores $150M Steelers Deal: Inside His Real Estate Empire as He Joins Former Teammate Russell Wilson

NFL player DK Metcalf has landed a five-year, $150 million deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers following his trade request from the Seattle Seahawks. The move sends the 27-year-old wide receiver to Steel City, while Seattle receives a 2025 second-round pick in return.

The teams will also swap their 2025 sixth- and seventh-round picks, according to NFL Network.

The deal makes Metcalf one of the highest-paid receivers in the NFL and sets up a potential reunion with former Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson, who joined the Steelers last year on a modest one-year, $1.2 million contract after being released by the Denver Broncos.

The move signals Pittsburgh’s intent to build a competitive offense around Wilson while giving Metcalf a fresh start in a new market.

Real Estate Portfolio in Transition

As Metcalf prepares to relocate, attention turns to his impressive real estate holdings.

According to Realtor.com, he has strategically built a property empire since signing his previous $72 million extension with the Seahawks three years ago, investing millions in prime locations across the country.

His most notable acquisition is a $5.4 million Los Angeles mansion purchased in 2021. The 8,828-square-foot property, originally built in 1954 but recently renovated, features three bedrooms, three bathrooms, a heated pool, four fireplaces, an enclosed glass balcony, a spacious dining room, and a state-of-the-art Control4 security system for privacy and safety.

Metcalf also owns a five-bedroom, four-bathroom home in Taylor, Mississippi, just 10 miles from his alma mater, Ole Miss. Purchased in 2022 for an undisclosed amount and now estimated to be worth $925,000, the 4,974-square-foot residence sits on 15 lush acres. The property includes a six-stall horse barn, a riding arena, and a 40-foot swimming pool. The home itself features oak wood floors, dark wood furniture, French doors, and a chef’s kitchen with a large island and elegant chandeliers.

Metcalf had previously invested around $7 million in vacation properties in the Mississippi. He also purchased a home in Washington in 2020, though records do not show if he still owns the property.

The Wilson Connection

Rumors swirl about Wilson’s influence on Metcalf’s decision to leave Seattle for Pittsburgh. Ian Furness of Seattle’s KJR Radio told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, “I think Russ is the reason [Metcalf] wanted out. I think Russ whispered in his ears. Russ has been a cancer for the Seahawks organization.”

Metcalf and Wilson played together in Seattle for three years and remain close friends.

Their connection extends beyond football — Wilson and his wife, Grammy Award-winning singer Ciara, reportedly played matchmaker for Metcalf and his girlfriend, singer Normani. The two couples were spotted together at the Gold Party just last week, further fueling speculation that Wilson helped persuade Metcalf to join him in Pittsburgh, Yahoo! Sports reports.

Wilson’s real estate journey might serve as a blueprint for Metcalf. After leaving Seattle, Wilson finally sold his waterfront Bellevue estate for $21.25 million, along with an adjacent property for $9.75 million, netting a total of $31 million.

Financial Impact

Metcalf’s new contract dramatically increases his earning potential. With a net worth currently estimated at almost $80 million, the five-year Steelers deal solidifies his financial standing among the NFL elite.

Though he still trails behind Wilson’s estimated $165 million net worth, Metcalf’s trajectory suggests continued growth both on and off the field.

Looking Ahead

As Pittsburgh prepares to welcome its newest star, the question remains whether Wilson will be picked up for an additional season and if Metcalf and Wilson can recapture the chemistry that made them a dominant duo in Seattle.

The Steelers’ offense struggled last season, and Metcalf’s arrival provides an immediate boost. With his size, speed, and ability to dominate downfield, he could become Wilson’s primary target once again.

With the 2025 season approaching, all eyes will be on whether Metcalf’s $150 million gamble — trading the familiar Seattle market for Pittsburgh’s passionate sports culture —pays off. For a player who has consistently demonstrated his value both on and off the field, this next chapter promises to be his most lucrative yet.
