A Calabasas estate once owned by actor and musician John Stamos is back on the market. The home is owned by politician Justin Aguilera and his wife, Candace, who is CEO of the beauty brand Appeal. The couple is hoping to sell the estate for $13 million.
Stamos, who has a reported net worth of $25 million, purchased the six-acre lot in 1991 while starring on the sitcom “Full House.” Working with architect Les Makowski, Stamos built a custom home with seven bedrooms and bathrooms. He lived on the property until 2001, when he sold it for a reported $2.2 million, a far cry from the $430,000 he originally spent on the lot.
The estate changed hands again in 2020 when the Aguileras purchased it for $2.95 million.
Inside the Calabasas Estate
When the Aguileras purchased the property, it had not been updated much since Stamos’ original build, but they loved the homes’ “bones.”
“We thought, ‘This could be amazing,’ but the whole house hadn’t been touched since the early ’90s,” John Aguilera told Mansion Global.
The Aguileras spent two years extensively renovating the interior and exterior of the 8,100-square-foot home, spending a reported $3 million.
The home’s original Mediterranean facade — complete with white stucco and red terra cotta roof — now features two stories of living space, including black and white marble and gold accents.
A portico entrance leads into a foyer flanked with columns. A set of staircases leads to a balcony that looms over a living room boasting a 15-foot chandelier and a two-sided fireplace. There’s also a media room and a wood-paneled entertainment room with a bar.
The primary suite is 2500 square feet and includes high, vaulted ceilings, a wet bar, a bathroom, a salon-style glam room, and a sitting area with a fireplace. There’s also a private balcony with views of the Malibu Canyon and the mountain range, a favorite space in the home for John Aguilera. The couple added gridless windows to provide unobstructed views.
“In the morning, since we’re so high on the hill, when the clouds come in from the coast, they always sit below you,” John Aguilera shared with Mansion Global. “So you’re looking at a blanket of fog. It looks like a waterfall.”
The home has six other bedrooms and bathrooms, all with gold toilets and black and white marble. There’s also a private guest suite.
When Stamos owned the house, he added a recording studio. The Aguileras transformed the area into a home office.
A formal dining room seats up to 10 guests is adjacent to a spacious kitchen with glass-knobbed cabinets, luxe stainless steel appliances, and a center island. A breakfast nook rounds out the dining area.
Outside, there is a pool and room to build a helicopter pad.
Stamos Under Fire
Stamos recently received backlash for emceeing the Palm Beach Ray of Hope Gala held at President Donald Trump’s home in Palm Beach, Mar-a-Lago. He was an avid supporter of Vice President Kamala Harris’s bid for the presidency in the 2024 election. Stamos clarified his position, noting the event was nonpartisan and honored health care professionals in Palm Beach County.
