The marriage didn’t work out, and now the house isn’t either. Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are making moves — at least in the real estate market — as they struggle to offload their former marital mansion after slashing $8 million off the asking price.
What’s Going on With the Beverly Hills Mansion
Nearly a year after the former couple listed their 38,000-square-foot Beverly Hills estate for a staggering $68 million, the asking price has been slashed by $8 million. The property, originally listed in July 2024, is now going for $59,950,000, according to real estate listings updated on May 6.
Lopez, 55, filed for divorce from Affleck, 52, in August 2024 — just two years after they got married twice–one in an intimate Las Vegas ceremony and once in a lavish ceremony in Georgia. The estate, which they purchased in May 2023 for $60,805,000, hit the market shortly after the couple spent the Fourth of July apart, a move that sparked public speculation about marital troubles.
At its current price, the pair would take a relatively small loss of around $855,000, a drop in the bucket for two of Hollywood’s most bankable stars.
The palatial property features 12 bedrooms and 24 bathrooms, a sports lounge, bar, state-of-the-art gym, boxing ring, and basketball and pickleball courts. It also includes a 5,000-square-foot guest penthouse, a caretaker’s house, a two-bedroom guardhouse, and a 12-car garage, according to People.
The mansion has been struggling to sell primarily due to its high price and the current state of the real estate market. Factors like potential overpricing, high maintenance costs (including taxes, security, and insurance), and competition from other luxury properties have all contributed to the difficulty in finding a buyer.
Reportedly there had been some contention between the former couple over the home as the location seemed to be inconvenient for Affleck, who wanted to remain close to his children—Violet, 19, Seraphina, 16, and Samuel, 13—in Brentwood. Lopez, who has an estimated net worth of $400 million, shares 17-year-old twins, Max and Emme, with her ex-husband Marc Anthony. Affleck’s net worth is estimated to be around $150 million.
Following the split, Affleck purchased a $20.5 million home in Los Angeles. Lopez reportedly spent around $18 million on her new L.A. home in Hidden Hills, according to Architectural Digest.
