NBA Star Antawn Jamison’s $14M Mansion Listing Is Turning Heads — Especially When You See What He Paid for It

Former NBA star Antawn Jamison is putting his North Carolina mansion in Waxhaw on the market, deciding to move closer to Charlotte.

After living on the property for about 22 years, having purchased the home in 2002 for $1.56 million, Jamison’s agency is demanding $14 million.

The home, which was listed around the end of May, according to Biz Journal (Triangle Business Journal), is said to be “one of the most expensive homes for sale across the Charlotte area.”

The Deal

A June 9 report from SFGate states that the former Golden State power forward has listed his 12,624-square-foot, six-bedroom, and 10-bathroom (seven full and three half) mansion with the help of an agent named Ben Bowen of Premier Sotheby’s International Realty.

“He moved out. He lived there 20 years, and it kind of served its purpose,” Bowen said, SFGate reported. “He’s moving closer into town now and has a little bit different housing needs. He’s custom-building another really nice house in town.”

The Waxhaw property, which sits on 30 acres, is about 22 minutes’ drive from Jamison’s high schoolProvidence High School, and about 2 hours away from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, both institutes the all-star player attended.

The land of the estate was acquired in 2002, and the construction of the mansion was completed in 2004.

The luxurious Waxhaw property has an elevator, a grand room, a formal dining room, and a gourmet kitchen with a separate breakfast room.

The amenities include a family room, a private office, a billiards room with a wet bar, a movie theater, and a wine cellar. The mansion also has a gym and an eight-car garage, according to Homes of the Rich.

The mansion’s outdoor features are there is a gated entrance with a motor court and fountain, multiple patios, an outdoor kitchen and BBQ area, an outdoor fireplace, a swimming pool with a spa, a playground, a lighted basketball court, and a private pond.

Jamison has an estimated net worth between $60 and $70 million, primarily earned through his 16-year NBA career, during which he made more than $140 million in salary.

A two-time All-Star and 2004 Sixth Man of the Year, Jamison played for teams like the Warriors and Washington Wizards. 

After retiring in 2014 and ending his career with the Los Angeles Clippers, he transitioned into broadcasting, becoming a broadcaster for Time Warner Cable SportsNet as a TV analyst for the Los Angeles Lakers, CBS reported.

On October 3, 2017, he got hired for a scouting role by the Los Angeles Lakers.

In August 2019, the Wizards hired him to become its director of pro personnel.
