The latest video of Tyrese Gibson yet again crying is not a sad, sobbing breakdown; it is him expressing joy and gratitude that his legal fees have finally been “turned around.”

Gibson’s messy, complicated divorces have played out publicly on social media. First with ex-wife Norma Gibson, during which he once broke down on camera over the custody battle for then-10-year-old daughter Shayla in 2017.
Tyrese’s Tears
That divorce was followed years later by split from his second ex-wife, Samantha Lee, with whom he shares daughter Soraya, born on Oct. 1, 2018. Their separation came in December 2020, and their divorce was finalized in 2022, ending with a costly settlement and child support payments.
Instead of a meme-worthy meltdown, the new emotional video, posted on X on Aug. 30, runs nearly 30 minutes and shows Gibson praising God for helping him survive the ordeal.
“I have been having some intimate and beautiful exchanges and moments with God,” he said. “And I know it’s him. I know it’s him because it’s impossible that something I thought was on the brink of destruction got turned around.”
Court filings show Gibson owed nearly half a million dollars, $492,651.99 to be exact, to Samantha for legal fees stemming from their divorce. She filed motions in July to hold him in contempt, alleging that despite his income, he had made “no effort whatsoever” to pay the balance or interest.
Judges previously issued contempt rulings against him on May 4, 2023, Oct. 3, 2023, and Oct. 4, 2024, according to Complex.
As Atlanta Black Star previously reported, Norma, who has been divorced from the “Baby Boy” actor since 2009, reportedly received about $11,000 per month in child support and health insurance for their child.
Beyond child support and spousal support, Gibson’s litigation has led to crippling attorney fees and steadily mounting debt, all of which, as of now, seem to be taken care of.
“I’m not the reason I didn’t file for bankruptcy just last week,” he continued. “I’m not the reason that some way, somehow, all of these legal fees that have stressed me out, all of the legal fees that I owe my ex, somehow, just showed up. I’m good, but I’m not that good.”
While the video serves as a follow-up to the Nov. 1, 2017, meltdown, “My Shayla” video, it also gives fans insight into Gibson’s life outside of personal finances.
His father, Tyrone Gibson, died the day before last week’s video, Aug. 29, after battling Stage 4 cancer, and Tyrese’s new album, “Painfully Beautiful,” has now been completed.
