Eagles’ Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley Are Far Apart on Payday, But There’s No Distance Between Them as They Navigate Tough Season

Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley are making history as Eagles teammates, becoming the NFL’s most productive QB-RB rushing duo and the first pair ever to each top 13 rushing touchdowns in a single season.

Hurts has extended his individual legacy by becoming the only quarterback with four seasons of 10-plus rushing touchdowns, while Barkley has flourished in Philadelphia, including multiple stretches of five or more rushing touchdowns in single-digit games, outpacing his production during his Giants years.

Teammates

But the Philadelphia Eagles’ season took another hit after a 22-19 overtime loss to the Los Angeles Chargers on “Monday Night Football” on Dec. 8, marking their third straight defeat and dropping them to 8-5. Hurts turned the ball over five times — four interceptions and a fumble — in a game that featured eight total turnovers. Despite the meltdown, his top offensive teammate refused to waver in his support.

Barkley defended Hurts to the press when asked about his confidence level after the loss. “High,” Barkley said of his confidence in Hurts. “I don’t know what the numbers were. In my opinion, when we got the ball back in overtime, and I got Jalen Hurts as my quarterback, I got all the confidence we’re going to win the football game. Sometimes, it doesn’t work. …This doesn’t change anything.”

The defense comes after a season in which both players made NFL history. Barkley led the league in rushing yards and 100-yard games in 2024, while Hurts set quarterback rushing-touchdown records. Together, they became the first teammates to record five postseason rushing touchdowns each.

Even with the team being down for the moment, the two had flourished for the most part, not only on the field but financially.

Hurts’ financial rise became unavoidable in 2023 when he signed a blockbuster extension with the Eagles worth $255 million over five years.

Pro Football Network, which evaluated the deal’s long-term mechanics, places Hurts among the highest-paid quarterbacks in the league based on average annual value and cap progression. These figures alone establish Hurts as one of the NFL’s premier financial earners before endorsements even enter the conversation.

His off-field portfolio adds another tier of income.

Forbes profiled Hurts’ rising endorsement empire, noting partnerships with Jordan Brand, Beats by Dre, Sprite, and BMW — brands that traditionally align with athletes positioned at the center of public attention. It’s a level of sponsorship reach typically reserved for quarterbacks who maintain year-round media relevance.

As a result, Hurts’ total wealth continues to climb with an estimated net worth of approximately $50 million.

Still, the Omega Psi Phi member could not have gotten a ring without his partner in football crime, Barkley, whose financial story, while highly successful within the running back market, reflects the much lower pay scale at his position.

After six seasons with the New York Giants, Barkley signed a contract with the Eagles worth approximately $41.2 million with $36 million guaranteed.

Although the contract places him among the NFL’s highest-paid running backs, it does not approach quarterback-level money. Barkley has earned close to $80 million in NFL income across his career, an elite figure for his position but one that still trails the lifetime earning curve of franchise quarterbacks.

At 28, he has committed millions across the tech landscape, investing in Anthropic, Elon Musk’s Neuralink, the prediction market Polymarket, and Peter Thiel’s Founders Fund.

Barkley’s endorsement presence is also solid, with major consumer partnerships that include Nike, Pepsi, and Toyota, SportsKeeda reports.

Like Hurts, he also purchased his parents a home, valued at $425K, with his first rookie check.

These personal ventures have boosted his annual earnings over the last few years. Yet, unlike Hurts, these deals do not span the broad lifestyle, technology, and athletic categories that typically chase top-tier quarterbacks.

As a result, Barkley’s estimated net worth sits at approximately $30 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth.

Lifestyle reporting also illustrates contrasting public financial profiles. Hurts has been notably conservative in his personal spending. It has been reported that the quarterback was living in a $2,000-per-month rental in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, as a rookie while investing in family-focused real estate projects.

He purchased for his parents a $215,000 home in Humbler, Texas. For himself, he purchased a $6 million 1950s mansion near his parents’ home.

Barkley’s real estate and long-term investments are less publicly documented, but his financial image has consistently been that of a disciplined, high-earning veteran rather than a player committed to luxury displays.

He even thought, once achieving financial security, to set aside $70K for his younger sister Kynnedy Hurts’ college tuition.

The 27-year-old’s $255 million contract, national endorsement footprint, and leadership as one of eight franchise captains firmly place him at the top of the Eagles’ financial hierarchy.

Barkley, who is also a captain and one of the best-paid running backs in the modern NFL, operates in an entirely different market reality — one shaped by shorter career windows, lower guarantees, and fewer cross-industry branding opportunities.

Comparing the teammates financially, it seems that Hurts right now is significantly a wealthier player, with stronger long-term earning power, broader commercial reach, and a contract structure built to grow his wealth for years to come. But time will tell how high these two Eagles will soar in net worth.
