Calls for the resignation or even impeachment of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem are intensifying after a fatal incident involving Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Minneapolis. On Jan. 7, an ICE agent fatally shot U.S. citizen Renee Nicole Macklin Good. Noem defended the agent’s actions, calling it self-defense and labeling Good’s behavior “domestic terrorism.”

Since 2025, according to The Guardian, ICE is responsible for at least 32 deaths, including Keith Porter, a 43-year-old Black man and father of two. Porter was fatally shot by an off-duty ICE agent in Los Angeles on New Year’s Eve outside of his apartment complex in the Northridge neighborhood. The circumstances surrounding his death are disputed by his family and authorities.
But it has been the death of Good that have ramped up calls for Noem to step down.
Noem’s defense of ICE has drawn immediate criticism. Local leaders, including Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, say video evidence contradicts Noem’s account, suggesting a “reckless use of power” rather than justified action. Democratic lawmakers, including California Gov. Gavin Newsom and Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker, along with members of Congress like Rep. Robin Kelly and Rep. Betty McCollum, are demanding Noem step down — or face articles of impeachment.

Amid the controversy, attention has also turned to Noem’s personal fortune. Forbes estimates her net worth at $5 million, built through a mix of government service, investments, and her husband Bryon Noem’s insurance business. Noem earns around $235,100 a year as Homeland Security secretary.
Before Washington, Noem was the first female governor of South Dakota and previously represented the state in Congress from 2011 to 2019. Before entering politics, she was rancher. Noem grew up on a family farm outside Hazel, South Dakota, helping run the property after her father died in a farming accident.
Much of the Noems’ wealth comes from Bryon’s Noem Insurance, valued at $1 million to $5 million, along with commercial property, land, livestock, and even a car wash. Kristi herself has earned advances for her two books, “Not My First Rodeo” and “No Going Back,” adding nearly $180,000 to her wealth.
There have also been allegations of wrongdoing in how Noem has addd to her wealth. Recent investigative reporting by ProPublica has raised questions about Noem’s financial dealings, focusing on allegations that she personally benefited from political fundraising and that federal ad contracts flowed to politically connected firms.
A June 2025 ProPublica report said that while serving as South Dakota governor in 2023, Noem allegedly received an $80,000 payment from American Resolve Policy Fund, a dark-money nonprofit that promoted her political career, the South Dakota Searchlight reported in June 2025. The funds were reportedly routed through Ashwood Strategies, a private company Noem formed in Delaware. According to the ProPublica report, the income was not disclosed on federal ethics forms filed after her Cabinet selection, prompting ethics experts to warn it could violate disclosure requirements.
In November 2025 a $220 million DHS border advertising campaign came into question as it reportdly bypassed competitive bidding under emergency authority. ProPublica found that firms tied to Noem and senior aides benefited, including a company linked to the Strategy Group, whose CEO is married to Noem’s top DHS aide. Noem’s lawyer says she complied with the law, and DHS denies she influenced contracts.
She needs to go. She’s a threat to democracy and a pathological liar.
Noem has reduced training for ICE and sends them out before background checks are complete, known white nationalists are now being hired! She is lawless and so are her out of control “Brown Shirt” troops.
Impeach her now…stop all ICE funding! No caving this time Democrats…our lives are on the line!
Kristi Noem is a pompous Barbie wanna-be, that has no moral compass. She is the small shadow of the Orange Bafoon, and moving precisely in his every lie. She needs to be impeached and brought up on charges for acts against the Constitution for violations of human rights, and abuse of power and violations of Oath of Office.
