Colin Kaepernick Finally Cashes Out. Exiled NFL Star Sells Tribeca Penthouse for $2.8M After Years on the Market

Former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick has officially cut ties with his New York City chapter, selling his modern Tribeca condo for $2.82 million, less than he paid for it nearly 10 years ago. The civil rights activist and entrepreneur finally offloaded the downtown home after it last lingered on the market for $2.99 million.

Finally Off The Market

Kaepernick purchased the two- to three-bedroom residence in 2016 for $3.21 million at One York, a boutique luxury building designed by renowned Mexican architect Enrique Norten, Complex reported. Later that same year, Kaepernick made global headlines for kneeling during pregame performances of the national anthem in protest of racial injustice, a move that reshaped his career and ultimately ended his time in the NFL.

After six seasons with the San Francisco 49ers, including a Super Bowl appearance in 2013 against the Baltimore Ravens, Kaepernick became a free agent in 2017 and never returned to the league. He later settled a collusion grievance with the NFL in 2019 after alleging he had been blacklisted.

Amenities at One York include a rooftop heated pool, sundeck, and full-service conveniences, making it a magnet for low-key celebrity residents. Past and present neighbors have included hip-hop artist and tech investor Nas, NHL player Derick Brassard, and writer Emily Stone.

Kaepernick and his wife, radio and TV host Nessa Diab, share a daughter born in 2022. The couple first listed the apartment in 2024 for $3.45 million before steadily trimming the price. Hi net worth is estimated to be around $20 million.

Kaepernick is currently focusing on Lumi Story. As founder and CEO of Lumi, Kaepernick is launching an AI-powered storytelling platform in schools, notably partnering with Prince George’s County Public Schools in Maryland to boost literacy by helping students create and visualize graphic novels.
