Is Giannis Antetokounmpo Done with the Bucks? NBA Megastar Drops $21M on Entire Chicago Apartment Building as Exit Rumors Swirl

NBA star Giannis Antetokounmpo is making big moves off the court. These moves are also fueling speculation that his days in Milwaukee may be numbered. The Milwaukee Bucks superstar has splashed out more than $21 million to purchase an entire apartment building in Chicago, the latest deal in a fast-growing real estate empire that now spans multiple states.

An affiliate of the Antetokounmpo family business, Ante Inc., recently acquired Harmony Apartments, a four-story, 56-unit building completed in 2024 on Chicago’s North Side. The deal was finalized earlier this month and backed by an $11 million loan from Old National Bank. With this purchase, Ante affiliates have now invested more than $69 million across 186 apartment units.

Ante Inc. is a family-owned investment business operated by Giannis Antetokounmpo alongside his brothers Thanasis, Kostas, and Alex Antetokounmpo. Established in 2023, the company oversees the family’s growing portfolio of real estate holdings, brand partnerships including Nike and Ready, and philanthropic initiatives. Giannis Antetokounmpo serves as chairman, with the business structured to manage both commercial ventures and long-term wealth planning for the family.

The Chicago buy adds to a busy year of property deals. In Brooklyn, New York, the family business spent $25.2 million on two side-by-side buildings in Prospect Lefferts Gardens, totaling 50 units. In Wisconsin, another $23 million went toward two separate buildings offering a combined 80 units.

Although the real estate push seems to be purely business-driven, the timing is impossible for sports fans to ignore. Antetokounmpo is currently sidelined with another calf injury from Jan. 23, expected to keep him out four to six weeks. It’s his second calf issue this season and the fourth in the past two years. And in fact, rival executives are openly questioning whether the two-time MVP has already played his final game in Milwaukee.

Financially, Giannis appears to be firmly in control. His net worth is estimated to exceed $100 million as of 2024, built on his NBA salary and endorsement portfolio. He earned nearly $49 million in salary in the 2024-2025 season alone and has long-standing partnerships with Nike and other global brands. Now in his 13th year in the NBA, his career earnings are slated to come to more than $338 million by the end of this season.
