One X user called the gesture “obscene,” while others argued its up to Saint John how she spends her money. It seems hard to pinpoint just how much money the corporate exec turned reality TV star has. Some estimates say she has $10 million, other have it as high as $30 million.

On the Feb. 5 episode of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” Saint John gifted her 16-year-old daughter, Lael, a Maserati Grecale Trofeo valued at $110,200.

The surprise unfolded outside the family’s home, where Saint John revealed the vehicle after Lael passed her driving test.

As the SUV rolled down the street, Saint John told her daughter, “You’re getting a Maserati! I love you. You deserve it,” according to Bravo.

The celebration also included matching T-shirts printed with Lael’s face on a faux driver’s license, underscoring that the gift was tied to achievement and occasion. Lael is Saint John’s daughter with her late husband, Peter Saint John, who died in 2013.

While the price tag drew attention online, the purchase sits comfortably within Saint John’s financial profile. She is one of the most recognizable marketing executives of the past two decades, having held senior leadership roles at PepsiCo, Apple Music, Uber, Endeavor, and Netflix.

In 2020, she became Netflix’s first Black C-suite executive, serving as chief marketing officer during a period of rapid global expansion. Industry reporting at the time placed her base salary at approximately $4 million annually, consistent with compensation disclosed in the company’s SEC filings for her predecessor.

Today, her net worth is supported by executive compensation, board service, speaking engagements, and entrepreneurial ventures, including her hair care brand Eve by Boz.

Saint John’s visibility extends beyond corporate boardrooms. She joined the cast of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills in 2024 and published her memoir, “The Urgent Life: My Story of Love, Loss, and Survival,” in 2023.

She has also been inducted into the American Marketing Association Marketing Hall of Fame and has taught executive leadership programming at Harvard Business School, reinforcing her reputation as a business leader focused on discipline, strategy, and long-term thinking.

That framework applies to her approach to parenting as well. Saint John has been explicit that wealth does not eliminate structure.

In a 2022 interview with “Today,” she explained that her daughter is required to justify major requests.

“There’s no ‘just because I want it,’” Saint John, who is soon to wed her fiancé, Keely Watson, said. “She had to have a good rationale for why she wanted the thing she wanted. You don’t want to go through life just collecting stuff. You want to think about the long-term.”

She reiterated that philosophy in a December Instagram post that resurfaced following the episode.

“She doesn’t ask. She PITCHES,” Saint John wrote, describing how Lael prepares presentations and explanations for major gifts.

“Yes, I’m in the position [to] give her a lot… but I want her to understand VALUE.”

The post drew strong engagement, with many followers framing it as a model for teaching financial literacy in high-net-worth households.
