Kandi Burruss Slams Todd Tucker as a Squatter in Guest House, Refusing to Pay Bills During Bitter Divorce

While high-profile divorces often make headlines for personal drama, the real story usually lies in finances. That seems to be evident in the ongoing split between Kandi Burruss and Todd Tucker.

It’s Getting Messy

Their latest court filings focus squarely on money: which party is covering expenses, and who is falling short. Sources say the dispute revolves around household bills, legal fees, and asset management.

According to recent court documents seen by TMZ, Burruss claims her estranged husband is living rent-free in a guest house on her Atlanta property while contributing “not a single expense for the maintenance and upkeep of the home, to include – utilities, gas, lawn care, water, pest control, or even fees associated with the alarm system.”

The property, she says, was purchased before their marriage and remains her separate asset.

Burruss, whose estimated net worth stands at approximately $30 million, is one of the highest-earning stars to come out of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta.” She has built a diversified portfolio spanning music royalties — including her Grammy-winning songwriting work on TLC’s “No Scrubs” — television production, Broadway investments, and hospitality ventures.

Her business footprint includes co-ownership of the Old Lady Gang restaurant brand in Atlanta, stage productions, and multiple Broadway producing credits, including “The Piano Lesson,” which grossed millions during its run. Even while working in New York on Broadway since November 2025, Burruss says she has flown back and forth to remain involved in the lives of their children, Ace and Blaze, while also employing a nanny to manage day-to-day logistics.

In her filings, Burruss alleges Tucker has not contributed to tuition, school supplies, birthday celebrations, or child support since their separation. She is now asking the court to formalize parenting time and order financial contributions.

Tucker, whose reported net worth is approximately $400,000 (which is $50,000 less than she earns per episode on the hit show where they met), disputes the characterization.

In his response, he admitted living in the guest house but argued he was “unilaterally removed” from the main home and remained on the property to preserve stability for their children.

He further stated, according to TMZ, “[Burruss] now attempts to reframe and weaponize this self-created financial arrangement as evidence of financial instability or neglect, while the timing and sequence of events demonstrate otherwise.”

Before their relationship became public, Tucker worked behind the scenes as a production manager on “The Real Housewives of Atlanta.”

He shared with Bravo TV how this impacted his job, stating, “In Production that’s a big NO NO!”

Adding that he did not listen to the warning from R&B group BBD’s hit “Poison,” sharing what got him: “I loved her smile, she had a great butt!”

Following their engagement, Burruss acknowledged that he resigned from working directly on the show.

“That was a big decision for him to have to make,” she said to Glamour in 2013. “He resigned, but then they came back and said they didn’t want him to quit. He still works with the same production company, but he doesn’t work on our show.”

That career pivot marked a financial inflection point. While Tucker has executive producer credits on projects like “Hollywood Divas” and partnerships in hospitality ventures including Old Lady Gang and Blaze Steak & Seafood, his independent production income has never rivaled Burruss’ entertainment empire.

The couple’s 7,000-square-foot Atlanta mansion — purchased by Burruss in 2012 for $503,000 and significantly renovated — underscores the wealth gap. What was once a shared lifestyle asset is now central to a dispute over occupancy, expenses, and control.

Meanwhile, both are seeking clarity on custody and temporary arrangements.
