During a March 2025 appearance on the “It’s Giving” podcast with Sarah Fontenot, which recently resurfaced, the NBA legend tackled a provocative question: if he were dating a woman worth $100 billion, would he still pay the mortgage? His answer was simple: “Of course.”
For O’Neal, marriage and partnership have always been about shared responsibility. “We’re married, we do stuff together,” he explained. When Fontenot asked if he could accept being the partner who doesn’t cover the bills, Shaq joked that it would be a refreshing change: “Yes I could… for a change… thank you.” After decades of being the one footing every bill, a little gratitude might not hurt.
