After hitting the market for roughly $1.275 million to nearly $1.3 million, Beyoncé’s childhood home has a new owner, according to the Houston Chronicle.

The home drew immediate attention and received multiple offers, going pending within just a few weeks of listing.

A local buyer secured the deal after making an “excellent” offer, the Houston Chronicle reported.

The celebrity connection and the home’s location on a desirable street created increased interest shortly after the listing launched, Bonner-Holley told the Houston Chronicle.

Fans from across the country called to ask about the home, leading Bonner-Holley to screen buyers to make sure they were serious.

Bonner-Holley held only one open house, and a tour bus later arrived full of fans hoping to see inside, though they were turned away.

Seller Derrick Mitchell and his family bought the house in 2012 and spent years dealing with steady fan traffic outside the property, according to KHOU.

Visitors often took photos, recorded social media videos, and sometimes asked to come inside.

Mitchell said he is not sure whether the new buyer understands the home’s celebrity history or what comes with it, he told KHOU.

The owners even placed a life-size cutout of Beyoncé outside so fans could take photos, while reminding visitors the property is not a museum.

Life is quieter at their new home, without strangers showing up in the front yard or stopping by unexpectedly, Mitchell said through KHOU.

County deed records show the Knowles family bought the Parkwood Drive house in 1987 after previously living on Rosedale Street, the Houston Chronicle reported.

The family owned the property until 1994, meaning Beyoncé lived there during many formative years, approximately ages 6 to 13, while Solange lived there from infancy to about age 8, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Beyoncé was developing as a young performer there and forming Girls Tyme, the precursor to Destiny’s Child.

In her memoir, “Matriarch,” Tina Knowles described the house as the “perfect … white-brick dream house.”

“There was a yard to play in, and it reminded me of my home in Galveston — a place for all the kids to hang out. ‘You can have parties with all your friends,’ I’d told the girls,” Tina Knowles wrote.

“I know there’s a lot of buzz about this being Beyoncé’s house, but the reality is a family lived here,” said Bonner-Holley. “And that’s what they wish for the next buyer, that it’s just a family,” Bonner-Holley told the Houston Chronicle.

Built in 1935, the house is a sizable historic residence measuring roughly 3,000 to 4,010 square feet depending on source records and listing details.

Features include three to four bedrooms, three to 3.5 bathrooms, a media room, original hardwood floors, an updated kitchen, marble island, Wolf appliances, remodeled bathrooms, an expanded primary suite, a pool, summer kitchen, detached guest or garage apartment, and a three-car garage, the Houston Chronicle reported.

Riverside Terrace became a center of Black professional life after Black families moved there in the 1950s amid exclusionary housing practices elsewhere.

The home’s location near the Texas Medical Center, Museum District, and Downtown Houston boosted its value because of access to major employment and cultural hubs, The Real Deal reported.

The Parkwood Drive house is one of two Riverside Terrace homes associated with the Knowles family, with another residence at 2414 Rosedale Street last selling in 2019.
