Venture capitalist Marc Andreessen reignited the tiff between him and Jack Dorsey over so-called Web3 technology by poking fun at the Twitter Inc. co-founder’s comments over the World Economic Forum.
The Andreessen Horowitz co-founder and Meta Platforms Inc. board member said jokingly in a series of Twitter posts Tuesday that he has become chairman of the organization and renamed it Wef3 after Dorsey described the forum as “useless” in a separate post on the social media platform.
The comments follow Dorsey voicing his displeasure last month with the involvement of venture capital firms like Andreessen Horowitz in Web3, the still hazy term for a virtual metaverse powered by decentralized systems and tech that’s meant to replace the internet as we know it. Dorsey, who stepped down as Twitter’s chief executive officer in November, later shared a Twitter post showing Andreessen blocking his account.
“I’m officially banned from web3,” Dorsey said on Dec. 22 with an image of him being unable to view Andreessen’s posts on Twitter or follow his account.
