The daughter of former NBA bad boy Dennis Rodman is paving her own path in the world of sports. Not only did Trinity Rodman land the biggest contract in women’s soccer league history in February, she is racking up recognition after recognition, proving she’s a top athlete in her own right.
Trinity, the daughter of Pro Basketball Hall of Famer Dennis (who was nicknamed the “Worm”), was only 19 years old when she has inked a three-year, $1.1 million contract extension with the Washington Spirit of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWS). It is a three-year contract with an option for a fourth year, according to Sportico. Trinity, now 20, also made history as the youngest player drafted into the NWS.
Her record-breaking contract seems to have been hard earned, as Trinity was named the league’s Rookie of the Year award and was named to the NWSL Best XI team for 2021. On top of this, she played internationally with the U.S. Women’s National Team and was named a finalist for the Ballon d’Or Féminin. The award, given by the magazine France Football, recognizes the world’s top players.
Her groundbreaking deal came on the heels of her rookie season, during which the team won the National Women’s Soccer League championship in 2021.
“The growth I’ve had here—I don’t even know the words to describe it. I’m just so grateful for what I’ve learned and the people I’ve been around throughout the season,” Trinity said last year. “The league is growing every single day, and the players are the biggest part of that. We’ve worked so hard, and we deserve the world. And I hope this deal shows that.”
Trinity is one of Dennis’s three children. He has a son, DJ Rodman, and another daughter, Alexis Rodman. Trinity and DJ’s mother is Michelle Moyer.
Trinity’s father became legendary on and off the basketball court. Dennis, 61, played in the NBA for 14 NBA seasons, retiring in 2000. Considered one of the top players ever with Chicago Bulls, Dennis also was often in the papers for his non-basketball antics. He and pop star Madonna, for example, tried to have a baby. Then there was the time in 1996 during the promotional tour for his autobiography, “Bad As I Wanna Be,” that he wore a white wedding dress and a veil to “marry himself” as he sardonically claimed he was bisexual. Dennis is worth an estimated $500,000 today after he said his financial adviser robbed him of his $27 million fortune.
