Thieves broke into Megan Thee Stallion’s L.A. home on Oct. 13 and reportedly got away with more than $300,000 in goods and cash.
Two suspects dressed in hoodies and gloves smashed a glass door at the back of the 27-year-old rapper’s house, according to TMZ. After gaining access, they headed to her bedroom where they grabbed between $300,000 to $400,000 in cash, electronics and jewelry.
What is Known about the Break-in
Megan Thee Stallion, whose net worth is estimated to be $8 million, was not home during the break-in.
“Material things can be replaced but I’m glad everyone is safe,” the Grammy-winning artist tweeted.
The rapper, who recently appeared on “Saturday Night Live,” announced days later that she is taking a break due to exhaustion.
“Hotties im really sorry but after SNL I really gotta take a break I’m so tired, physically and emotionally,” she tweeted.
While many news outlets have reported the incident and provided surveillance footage, the LAPD has not confirmed additional details.
There is some speculation the performer might have been in New York City at the time of the break-in for a rehearsal for her Oct. 15 “SNL” appearance. According to New York Post, rehearsals for SNL guest hosts usually start on Tuesdays and go up until the showday.
This was Megan Thee Stallion’s second appearance on “SNL,” the second female rapper to guest host ever do so, right after Queen Latifah. Megan previously performed as a music guest in 2020.
Been a Busy Year for Megan
Last month, she launched a mental health resource website called Bad Bitches Have Bad Days Too. It includes crisis hotlines and directories of Black and LGBTQ therapists.
In 2021, she teamed up with Popeyes for a limited-time sauce. Megan Thee Stallion partnered that fast-food chicken chain to launch Hottie Sauce. While it is no longer available, the sauce is selling on eBay, XXL Magazine reports, for as high as $60.
Contract Woes
In August, the rapper sued 1501 Certified Entertainment to sever her ties with the Houston-based label. As Finurah previously reported, she wants $1 million in damages in her lawsuit, Rolling Stone first reported. She blames the label for leaking material from her latest album “Traumazine.” And she wants out of her contract, claiming he has not been paid for her work and that she has fulfilled her contract.
Her suit says that 1501 withheld payment for her share of the royalties on her music and that 60 percent of her recording income goes to the label, as opposed to a traditional 50-50 split.
