Despite rumors that the Los Angeles Lakers may be attempting to trade Russell Westbrook, the basketball player has purchased a residence in Brentwood — directly across the street from his teammate LeBron James. It is reported that Westbrook spent $37 million on the home.
Westbrook is a professional basketball player currently with the Los Angeles Lakers team. A member of the NBA 75th Anniversary Team, Westbrook is known for his speed as a point guard and has also served on the NBA All-Star team nine times. He earned the NBA Most Valuable Player for the 2016-2017 season and the NBA All-Star Game MVP Award for 2015 and 2016. Westbrook’s current net worth is $170 million.
A Swanky New Home
Westbrook’s new residence is a 13,500-square-foot farmhouse-style home. There is not much information available on the new home, as it was a closed purchase. The white and brown wood-side home sits on a half-acre of a hillside lot and overlooks the Pacific Ocean.
The three-level home includes eight bedrooms, 13 bathrooms, a two-car garage and an elevator.
Outside, there is a pool, spa, sundeck and patio.
One of the selling points of the residence was the many improvements made by the previous owners. The home featured a detached 10-car garage. However, it was converted into staff quarters that included glass-walled offices, a breakroom, a laundry and dry-cleaning area.
Westbrook’s Trade-In
A native of Los Angeles, Westbrook also recently listed a residence in Brentwood Park for $30 million. Westbrook purchased the 13,000-square-foot mansion in 2018 for $19.8 million. At the time, Westbrook was still playing with the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Over the next four years, Westbrook would make several improvements to the residence. Described as a modern traditional home, Westbrook’s property featured French doors, high ceilings, hardwood floors, an open floorplan and custom mouldings and finishes. In addition, a front and backyard lawn provided space for children to play.
A kitchen complete with marble countertops, a wet bar and a fireplace round out the first floor. The lower level includes a second family room, another wet bar, gym, walk-in wine storage and a staff bedroom.
The top floor features an ensuite with a vaulted ceiling, marble bathrooms, boutique-style closets and a private balcony.
The backyard includes a pool and a complete outdoor kitchen.
