Professional basketball player Stephen Curry has a thing for watches, and his taste for luxury timepieces is something to behold.
Here are some of the watches the NBA champion has been seen wearing.
Curry loves Rolexes
A watch collection is not official without owning a Rolex, and it is apparently Curry’s go-to watch for off-the-court appearances and gift-giving.
On Dec. 14, 2021, Curry made his 2,974th 3-pointer against the Knicks, surpassing former shooting guard Ray Allen’s record for most 3-pointers in NBA history. To celebrate, Curry gifted fellow Golden State Warriors teammates Draymond Green, Andre Iguodala and Klay Thompson Rolex watches.
All three players received, engraved and customized, the Rolex Sea-Dweller Deepsea, also known as the Rolex Submariner, according to Hype Beast.
Debuting in the late ’60s, these watches were engineered for deep-sea exploration, being waterproof to a depth of 4,000 feet, according to Rolex.
Depending on when it was assembled, its materials, and if it is part of a special edition, Rolex Submariners have a wide price range between $7,000 and $40,000, according to Chrono24.
Curry has worn his during media interviews and in photographs with his family. He donned his silver Rolex watch with a black dial ceramic bezel during his meeting with then-President Barack Obama in 2015.
Curry was also seen wearing the Submariner when he won the MVP Trophy in 2016.
Royal Oak
Another go-to watch Curry loves to wear is his Audemars Piguet Royal Oak.
Curry wore his Audemars Piguet Royal Oak at many press conferences and events.
One of the events he attended was the Met Gala 21; he sported a custom-made, 18-carat rose gold Audemars Piguet Royal Oak, set with VS1 diamonds around the dial, and showcased a dual-time function.
Curry also fancies the Royal Oak Offshore Selfwinding Chronograph that comes in smoked blue, green or grey dials, with Arabic numerals instead of the hour markers that are customarily applied on watches.
Curry wore this watch when he accepted his Kia MVP during the 2020-21 season, GQ reported.
This Switzerland watchmaker dates back to the late 1800s, and during the early 1900s the company was one of the first watchmakers to create wristwatches, breaking sales records with its innovative new designs.
It is now a recognizable luxury brand, with used classic watches from the 1990s or 2000s costing as low as $16,000, and newer watches like the Royal Oak Offshore Tourbillon costing more than $425,000.
Cartier
Curry’s collection is filled with expensive watches, but his Cartier collection is considerably affordable.
As some may recall, an injured Curry was benched for playing against the Dallas Mavericks in 2018. On the bench, Curry wore his rose gold Santos de Cartier Skeleton, which at the time was part of the company’s brand new Santos collection, SIHH 2018.
His watch is said to have cost $57,000, according to Business Insider.
The Santos brand was created in 1904 when Cartier designed the watch for aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont to wear on his intrepid flights.
The Santos brand is a two-time relaunched bracelet luxury sports timepiece; it was first rebooted near the end of the ’70s with its large number of screws used on both the bezel and the bracelet until it got discontinued in 2016.
