Champion fighter Floyd “Money” Mayweather Jr. has added a new custom vehicle to his fleet of almost 30 cars. With a net worth of over $450 million, the luxury car enthusiast is considered the “richest fighter in boxing history” and uses his wealth to make sure his rides (and their accessories) are one of a kind.
An example is the upgrade he made to a custom Rolls-Royce he purchased years ago. The prizefighter, who was only defeated in the 1996 Olympics, spent $180K to refurbish the England-made car, adding to the floors mink mats worth $44,000, 45-inch TV, 2000-watt sound system, and WiFi for those in the car to connect to, TMZ reports.
The renovation comes compliments of Obi Okeke aka Doctor Bugatti, who also changed the engine in the vehicle and added a customized “TMT” wood interior.
Car Collection
Before the most recent changes to the Rolls-Royce, Mayweather had the car cut and stretched out to almost 10 feet.
Mayweather has several Rolls, including one worth $345K, which he paid Okeke to install an $18K mink fur-lined baby car seat for his grandson.
The fighter owns four different Rolls-Royces: a Dawn, a Phantom, a Wraith, and a Ghost.
In addition to the aforementioned Rolls-Royces, Hotcars.com reports, he owns 23 other luxury vehicles, including five Mercedes-Benzes (a G550 4×4; an SLS AMG; an SLR McLaren; a G63; and a W140-Chassis S-Class). The collection also includes four Ferraris (an Enzo; a 599 GTB Fiorano; a 458 Italia; and a LaFerrari Aperta), three Bentleys (a Flying Spur; a Mulsanne; and a Golf Cart), three Bugattis (a Grand Sport Vitesse; a Veyron and a Chiron) and two Lamborghini cars (an Aventador and Murcielago). Other vehicles include a Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet, a McLaren 650S, a Maybach S600, an Aston Martin One-77, a Pagani Huayra and one Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita.
Reportedly the most expensive car out of all of his possessions, the Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita is worth $4.8 million, according to CarBuzz.
The Money Team
Mayweather can afford these expensive “toys” because of his prowess as an athlete and businessman.
Much of the champ’s wealth came from boxing. In 2013, in his fight against Canelo Alvarez, he commanded a purse of about $75 million. In 2015, during the “Fight of the Century” with Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao, he is reported to have received a net of $250-$300 million.
In 2017, when he fought against Conor McGregor, he made about $300 million.
Outside of boxing, he has a thriving portfolio that includes real estate, where he partnered with CGI Merchant Group, LLC, a worldwide investment management firm specializing in commercial real estate and private equity. He owns about nine skyscrapers, including One Vanderbilt, a 93-story tall building in New York City.
It also includes his NASCAR team, the Money Team Racing, which participated in the 2022 Daytona 500 and became one of the five Black-owned teams in NASCAR’s history.
Generational Wealth Project
According to Forbes, one of his investments will impact other athletes. He has teamed up with baseball superstar Alex Rodriguez to invest in the $650 million Hospitality Opportunity Fund of CGI Merchant Group.
This partnership will dump over $250 million into commercial real estate assets for those investors, with the partnership being available to other athletes and celebrities.
Mayweather, reportedly the sixth richest sportsman in the last 30 years, said about joining the new platform-level investment partnership, “My focus is on creating generational wealth and doing it with partners that share my values and drive for excellence.”
