Steve Harvey now owns a one-of-a-kind Mercedes-Benz vehicle, thanks to his wife Marjorie Harvey who gifted it to him.
On the official @buckheadbenz Instagram page, a page owned and operated by Mercedes- Benz of Atlanta, Georgia, a video shows Marjorie gifting Steve a Virgil Abloh edition Maybach.
The video posted shows Marjorie on the steps of the couple’s mansion awaiting the delivery of the car. The car arrived accompanied by security cars. Steve is later seen checking out the car.
The Rare Virgil Abloh Maybach
While it may seem a luxury car like this would be one of a kind, Steve is one of the 150 owners worldwide to receive the Virgil Abloh Maybach S 680.
The 2023 Virgil Abloh Maybach S 680 is a luxury car named after the beloved, late fashion designer Virgil Abloh, who was best known for being a menswear designer for Louis Vuitton and founder and CEO of Off-White, a high-fashion collection.
The car itself is a collaboration between Mercedes and Abloh, who passed away on Nov. 28, 2021, at the age of 41, after battling cancer.
Although the designer is gone, his partnership with Mercedes-Benz lives on, with chief design officer Gorden Wagener proud to unveil the collaboration in December 2022 at a company event.
“As Project Maybach was a show car, we had complete creative freedom, allowing us to collaboratively concept what the future of electric travel could look like,” Wagener told Dezeen in April 2022. “Due to production requirements, we had to take a different approach to the design of the Mercedes-Maybach limited-edition S-Class.”
The partnership produced two unique Maybach vehicles: a solar-powered roadster designed for luxury off-roading and a reimagined S 680.
A standard Mercedes-Maybach S 680 costs $215,000, but the special-edition Abloh-designed version reportedly costs between $500,000 and $600,000 per unit, depending on the model. One particular luxury car company shows it is charging $450,141 for the vehicle.
The car is slated to officially be on the market in April 2023, but some entertainers like Alicia Keys and Lil Baby already received theirs, HITC reported.
Keys was gifted her designed car in January by her husband Swizz Beats for her 42nd birthday.
If his Instagram page is an indication, Lil Baby got his car in March as well, according to Vibe.
There is also evidence that suggests Drake owns the car as well. It was featured on the rapper’s music video for his “Honestly, Nevermind” single “Sticky.”
Under the Hood and Inside
The Maybach by Virgil Abloh is a specially curated version of the Mercedes-Maybach S 680 sedan complete with the potent 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12 engine that produces 621 horsepower and 664 pound-feet of torque.
The interior has cream-colored leather seats, glossy black accents and polished chrome elements. The cream coloring extends to the trim, which would ordinarily be natural wood.
The head cushion casings are a plush leather with the custom Maybach x Abloh logo inscribed on each one. An owner’s car number also will be on each (i.e., 3 of 150).
The Virgil Abloh rear maintains the standards of its predecessors, with built-in tray tables (leather in sand color), a champagne fridge and glasses, plush head rests, wireless charging, USB and HDMI ports, specialized champagne flute holders, warm and cold cup holders, personal infotainment screens and more.
Harvey’s Love of Cars
In addition to his Abloh Maybach, which is an all-electric car, Steve owns a Rolls-Royce and a Bentley, a Ford F-150 and a classic 1941 Cadillac convertible.
As Finurah previously reported, Steve – whose net worth of $200 million – has an extensive car collection, including luxury brands such as Rolls-Royce and Bentley and economy brands such as Cadillac and Ford, that is worth more than $2 million.
