How Steve Harvey’s Wife, Marjorie, Negotiated the Deal to Buy Tyler Perry’s Atlanta Mansion

Several years ago, after visiting Tyler Perry’s home, comedian Steve Harvey prayed that he would one day be able to own a home just like the media mogul.  And in 2020, Harvey’s dream came true when his wife, Marjorie, pushed the needle forward on purchasing Perry’s home.

Harvey hosts the syndicated radio show “The Steve Harvey Morning Show.” He also is the host of “Family Feud” and “Celebrity Family Feud.” Harvey got his start in the entertainment industry as a comedian. His big break came when he was a finalist in the Johnnie Walker National Comedy Search and landed a job as the host on “It’s Showtime at the Apollo.”

He shared the headliner status with fellow comedians on the “Kings of Comedy” tour before starring in television shows such as “Me and the Boys and “The Steve Harvey Show.” In addition to his work in the entertainment industry, Harvey released best-selling books such as “Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man,” which spent 64 weeks on The New York Times bestseller list. Harvey has a current net worth of $200 million.

A Wife’s Vision Becomes Reality

Despite his success, the comedian and television host was hesitant to make the house purchase–production had stopped on the “Family Feud” show as the world shut down as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, but Marjorie showed him it was possible.

“She said, ‘Steve, you don’t know how much money you got. You make it. I watch it,’ ” Harvey shared recently on Shannon Sharpe’s “Club Shay Shay.” ” ‘I can put this whole deal together.’ ”

With Harvey’s blessings, Marjorie got to work by reaching out to the current owner of the home. Like many eager homeowners in 2020, Marjorie wrote a love letter to the owner, offering $15 million for the home — sight unseen.

And although the real-estate agent did not believe the owner would accept the amount, Marjorie persevered.

Harvey recalls that Marjorie wrote to the owner, “This is not a negotiation. I am offering you this. My husband loves this house….If you don’t want this amount, it’s ok. I’m not trying to insult you.”

Marjorie’s persuasive words paid off as her offer was ultimately accepted on March 27, the birthday of Harvey’s late mother.

Inside Harvey’s Dream Home

Harvey shares his residence with Marjorie and their blended family of seven children. Located in the exclusive Buckhead section of the Atlanta metro area, the home is 34,688 square feet. It includes seven bedrooms and nine-and-a-half bathrooms. Entertaining guests is easy as there are several formal and informal living spaces such as a movie theater, indoor swimming pool, an underground ballroom, a catering kitchen and a wine cellar.

The home sits on almost 17 acres of land. The sprawling manicured lawns include a garden area, a 70,000-gallon infinity swimming pool, a tennis court, gym and spa. There is also a guesthouse, guardhouse and caretaker’s suite.

Finally, Harvey’s family is more than safe with a security system and backup generator.

I love Steve Harvey he deserves to have the mansion. Since they have 7 children he certainly needs lots if room. This way the kids have lots of room to be free, I can only imagine what they go through when they leave the grounds. Paparazzi probably at their heals! Lol
