Steve Harvey wears many hats as a comedian and syndicated show host, but when he’s ready to rest his hat, it needs to be at his palatial estate in the exclusive Buckhead area of metropolitan Atlanta.
Harvey and his wife, Marjorie, purchased the estate once owned by media mogul Tyler Perry in 2020 for $15 million. Marjorie persuaded Perry to sell her the property by writing a persuasive real estate love letter.
Harvey recalls that Marjorie wrote in the letter, “’This is not a negotiation. I am offering you this. My husband loves this house….If you don’t want this amount, it’s ok. I’m not trying to insult you.’”
When Marjorie’s offer was accepted on March 27, the couple saw it as a blessing since it was the birthday of Harvey’s late mother.
A Look Inside the Mansion
The residence is 34,688 square feet and features seven bedrooms as well as nine and a half bathrooms. With this much space, it is just enough room for Harvey’s blended family of seven children when they make a visit. A lavish, spacious living room sets the tone for the home theme of luxury and leisure. A grand kitchen featuring high-end appliances and an adjoining dining area are also appealing. There’s a game room with a billiard pool table, and the home also features an indoor swimming pool, gym, movie theater, and wine cellar. Finally, the underground ballroom and catering kitchen will provide the Harvey’s with the opportunity to host many celebrations.
A Sprawling Estate
The home sits on 17 acres of well-kept lawns and gardens. A 70,000-gallon infinity-edged swimming pool is flanked by a lounge area. There’s also a tennis court and spa.
Harvey visitors do not need to stay in a hotel, as there’s a fully furnished guest house. A detached caretaker’s suite is available as well. Finally, there is a state-of-the-art security system and backup generator present in case of emergencies.
