The real estate market might not currently be a seller’s market, but Kimora Lee Simmons was recently able to find a buyer for her Coldwater Canyon estate in Beverly Hills.
According to TMZ, the entrepreneur, model, and reality television star sold the neoclassical/Mediterranean residence for $16.5 million. While it’s $6.5 million less than the asking price that Simmons wanted when she placed the home on the market in January, she is still making a slight profit. She purchased the home in 2008 for $11 million, right before her split from music mogul and hip-hop pioneer Russell Simmons. She was renting the home for the last several years, most recently for $62,500 per month. The new owners will be renting the property too — for $100,000 per month.
Inside Simmons’ Former Abode
Built in 1990, the seven-bedroom, nine-bathroom home is 9,045 square feet. Visitors can park in the four-car garage before heading inside. Once inside, visitors will notice a white, double-height foyer with natural sunlight and a wrought iron staircase leading to the second floor.
A family room includes dark hardwood floors, French doors and an off-white coffered ceiling that adds depth to the room. A beige gourmet kitchen features cabinets with traditional detailing, stainless steel appliances, an eat-in kitchen island, a breakfast nook and a butler’s pantry.
The adjacent dining room continues the home’s theme of neutral colors and detailing.
A wood-paneled space serves as both an office and a library, allowing residents the opportunity to relax and meet deadlines.
Upstairs there are five bedrooms. The en suite area includes walk-in closets, a bathroom with two baths, and a private balcony.
Guests visiting the estate are able to rest comfortably in a two-bedroom, one-bathroom guesthouse.
Outside, residents and guests can relax in an open-air cabana beside a swimming pool. There’s also a gym, spa, sports court and garden.
Simmons’ Other Real Estate Holdings
With a net worth of $80 million, it’s no wonder why Simmons can accept such a steep price cut for the house she recently sold.
In addition to this property, Simmons and her husband, Tim Leissner, purchased an apartment in New York City for $19 million. Three years later, in 2017, they purchased another home in Beverly Hills for $25 million. Featuring seven bedrooms and 11 bathrooms, the home is nestled in a gated community. Neighbors include Denzel Washington and Eddie Murphy. The couple sold the property in 2021 for $15.7 million.
Social Media Spat
Over Father’s Day weekend, Kimora took to social media to blast Russell Simmons.
“I’m so sorry to have to do this,” she wrote on Instagram about Russell, with whom she shares two children, Ming Lee, 23, and Aoki Lee, 20. “But this man has been threatening my kids’ lives. I’m hearing so much more now. We won’t be bullied threatened or afraid.”
