Lamar Odom has recently embarked on a venture one might have expected of the former NBA player and reality star.
He’s opened a long-term assisted living referral service for seniors. Named Odom Senior Care, this business was inspired by his 96-year-old grandmother, Florence.
In a touching Instagram post, Lamar, 43, shared the news, stating, “Happy to announce my new venture @odomseniorcare. Providing Affordable and Best-In-Class Care for Seniors.” He expressed his determination to provide top-notch care for seniors while making it affordable and accessible to those in need.
A Different Senior Care?
The senior care industry is notorious for its high costs and health care scandals. Odom said he found it challenging when seeking a care facility for his grandmother and wanted to offer a safe and affordable alternative for seniors like his grandmother.
Odom Senior Care is partnered with Regency Palms facilities in Southern California’s Oxnard and Long Beach communities. Odom’s company acts as an authorized referral service provider, working in conjunction with Regency Palms to place seniors in long-term care facilities.
Having found the process daunting when trying to find a facility for his grandmother, Odom Senior Care’s focus is to match seniors with the best facilities for them.
Although he is working with just the two facilities currently, he says he aims to partner with other companies and expand his service to cover 1,000 communities nationwide by the beginning of 2024.
Senior care is a growing industry. Services for the Elderly and Persons with Disabilities had an estimated revenue of $57.4 billion in 2020, up 62.1% from $35.4 billion in 2013.
Odom Recovery Group
Odom, who played for the NBA for 14 seasons, has been getting involved in the wellness industry.
His Odom Recovery Group partnered with Dontae Ralston and Dennis Martinez, to open Odom Wellness Treatment Centers in California.

Personal Struggles an Inspiration
Odom, the ex-husband of Khloé Kardashian, had a long battle with substance abuse and suffered a near-fatal overdose in 2015. the overdose led to 12 seizures, six strokes and heart failure. Soon after this incident, he began working in the wellness space.
“When God had saved me from that accident, I was trying to find my purpose—and I think I may have found it,” Odom told TMZ Live. “I know I have found it.”
He continued, “For me to have rehabilitation centers and wellness centers is a big deal. I want to put them everywhere. Drugs are bad everywhere.”
